Tamron continue their line-up of f/2.8 constant lenses for the Sony FE mount with the announcement of the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD Lens. Developed with the goal of making high-speed zoom lenses user-friendly, the lens follows the theme of Tamron’s other recent Di III releases. It’s fast, compact, lightweight with an ultra-short minimum focusing distance for maximum creative versatility.

Latest VXD AF Motor

The 70-180mm utilises Tamron’s latest VXD (Voice-Coil eXtreme-torque Drive) autofocusing motor to delivers, accurate, consistent AF performance that’s whisper quiet in operation. Perfect for photo and video applications.

Compatible with Sony Hybrid AF and Eye-AF Modes

The VXD system is also compatible with Sony’s innovative Fast Hybrid AF, Eye-AF and DMF focusing modes, equipping portrait, wedding, sports and wildlife photographers with the tools they need to capture tack-sharp images, no matter the subject.

85cm Minimum Focusing Distance

Common to all of Tamron’s Di III lenses, the 70-180mm f/2.8 equips you with the ability to focus on subjects just 85cm from the lens. Combine this with the 180mm focal range and you have to ability to fill the frame with even the smallest details.

Weather Sealed Construction

Built to work when shooting in adverse weather, the Tamron 70-180mm telephoto zoom lens features a weather sealed construction to match the higher end Sony mirrorless cameras. A fluorine coating on the front element repels moisture and oils, making it easy to ensure the lens is optically clear for maximum detail.
