Duty Free / Tourist Refund Scheme

Under the Australian Government’s Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS), travellers leaving Australia may be able to claim a refund of the GST (and in some cases WET), subject to eligibility requirements and conditions.

Buying from Digital Camera Warehouse

When you purchase a camera or accessories from Digital Camera Warehouse, we’ll provide the tax invoice you need for a TRS claim — either in-store at the time of purchase, or by email for online orders.

TRS eligibility (quick guide)

  • You must spend AUD $300 or more (GST inclusive) with a single business / ABN. Multiple invoices can be combined, as long as they meet the rules.
  • Goods must be purchased within 60 days of your departure from Australia.
  • You (the traveller) must have paid for the goods and have the original tax invoice(s).
  • You must take the goods with you when you depart and be able to present the goods if requested, along with your passport and international boarding pass.

Note: Additional conditions apply, including special handling for liquids/aerosols and oversized items. Always check the official rules before you travel.

How to make a TRS claim

  1. Keep your tax invoice(s) for eligible purchases.
  2. Arrive early for your international departure and proceed to the TRS facility after passport control (airport/seaport).
  3. Present your goods (if requested), passport, boarding pass, and tax invoice(s).
  4. For faster processing, you can pre-fill your claim online and present the generated QR code at the TRS facility.
Helpful tip: Pre-fill your TRS details to save time at the airport using the official TRS claim site.
