Improved Design and Performance

The Samyang 14mm F2.8 Renewal UMC II for Sony FE Full Frame, De-Clicked & Weather Sealed Lens has been improved with better balance and grip compared to its predecessor. A 9-bladed aperture creates a beautiful, circular bokeh when shooting wide-open. When stopped down, the lens produces sharp, high-resolution images with 18-point stars or sunbursts from in-scene light sources.

A user de-clickable aperture allows you to set in-between f-stop values and allows for smooth exposure changes during video recording. For astrophotographers and anyone wanting to do time-lapses with reliability in mind, a focus lock is a welcome addition - simply twist the outmost ring to lock/unlock your focus ring.

Optics

The Samyang 14mm F2.8 Renewal UMC II is a well-corrected lens that produces a great out-of-focus rendition thanks to its 9-bladed aperture. It uses High Refraction lenses to adjust the path of light for clear and vibrant images, a Hybrid Aspherical Lens to minimize spherical and distortion aberration for the sharpest image quality, and two Extra-low Dispersion lenses correct chromatic aberrations.

Optical Construction

  • 14 Elements in 10 Groups
  • 3x High Refraction Lenses
  • 1x Hybrid Aspherical Lens
  • 1x Aspherical Lens
  • 2x Extra-low Dispersions Lenses

Pleasing Circular Bokeh

A 9-bladed aperture helps to produce pleasing bokeh (out-of-focus areas) with a circular nature. When the shooting stopped down to a small aperture this lens will create clear 18 rays of star or sunburst effect around bright in-the-scene-light sources.

Great for video needs!

De-Clicked Aperture Ring for Smooth Exposure Changes

By a simple twist of the aperture ring, it's possible to change how the aperture behaves. The de-clicked (free) setting allows for fine adjustments while recording, without 'clicking' or exposure steps between different f-stops. Using the click setting the lens behaves more like a traditional still photography lens with distinct exposure steps, clicks and tactile feedback.

User-friendly design

The renewed and updated design features a balanced approach which has produced a consistent and streamlined lens. A new micropatterned focus ring offers improved grip and the rotational angle correction (200° to 100°) enables faster focus. Further, Samyang has incorporated a depth-of-field scale to make it easy to calculate which part of the scene will be in focus at a given aperture.

Focus Lock

You can use the lens focus lock to 'fix' your focus and improve reliability when shooting time-lapses or astrophotography. Simply rotate the lens' outmost ring to the 'lock' or 'unlock' position to stop the focus ring from rotating by accident.

Weather Sealing

Protective design features enable users to capture moments outdoors in any environment, providing the dependability you need to keep shooting.
