Capture Every Moment

The Panasonic Lumix GH6 with Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm F/2.8-4 POWER O.I.S. Lens is perfect for everyday content creators. This versatile and lightweight mirrorless body, paired with an all-rounder zoom lens, is sure to capture every moment.

The GH6 features a newly built 25.2-megapixel Live MOS Sensor, a first in the Micro Four Thirds category. Aside from high-resolution imaging and fast signal readout, the sensor's single exposure HDR technology represents a considerable improvement in dynamic range capability. Not only offers the next-generation Venus Engine power advanced image processing and computational photography, but it also opens up a new universe of video codec options and frame rates to improve workflow and flexibility for professional and budding videographers. The GH6 supports V-Log/V-Gamut and has an impressive 13+ stops dynamic range.

The Lumix GH6 now offers Apple ProRes 422 HQ, 5.7K 30p internal video recording, which simplifies workflow for filmmakers. This saves time in the editing process by eliminating the time-consuming procedure of transcoding media from standard compressed codecs into ProRes or proxy formats, which is frequently done by mirrorless hybrid camera users. Today's designers want high framerate recording possibilities in larger resolutions as well. The GH6 does this with superb C4K 120p in 10-bit 4:2:0, all without cropping or the image quality compromises that are common in the hybrid camera segment. LUMIX customers have always enjoyed consistently lengthy recording times, and the GH6 is no different, with unlimited recording aided by Panasonic's newest heat management technology, even in intense recording settings like HDR.

The Panasonic GH6 camera delivers 7.5 stops of outstanding image stabilisation in both wide and telephoto focal lengths, building on their tradition of great stabilisation for hybrid shooters. Dual I.S.2 allows users to choose between using tripods, gimbals or shooting completely handheld, all while delivering smooth and professional shots. The GH6 contains a new extremely high-precision 5-axis gyro sensor with a unique algorithm, which achieves 7.5 stops of Body I.S. and Dual I.S.2.

Panasonic Lumix GH6 Key Capabilities:

Sensor and processor technologies

Panasonic has created a new 25.2-megapixel Live MOS Sensor (Micro Four Thirds System) with no LPF (Low-pass Filter) and a high resolution, high-speed signal readout that reduces rolling shutter and achieves a wide dynamic range. With pre-installed V-Log and HLG recording and the Dynamic Range Boost setting, the Lumix GH6 offers 13+ stops of a wide dynamic range. This mode employs two analogue circuits, one with a high gain and one with a low gain, each of which captures a distinct exposure and saturation/noise level at the same time. The two pictures are pixel-by-pixel blended to produce a high dynamic range photo with low noise and high saturation, delivering clear and smooth HDR footage with rich gradation.

Newly developed Venus Engine

The new Venus Engine has roughly double the processing capability of the preceding generation. Intelligent Detail Processing, 2D Noise Reduction, High Precision 3D Noise Reduction for Video, and High Precision 3D Colour Control are some of the important technologies that have evolved. They work together to produce less noise, more detail and richness, and improved colour reproduction for rich, true-to-life colour representation.

100-megapixel high resolution images

100-megapixel high-definition photographs can be produced in-camera utilising the High-Resolution setting, either with a tripod or handheld, thanks to the strong image stabilisation technology. Using the Body I.S., eight consecutive photos are shot automatically while changing the sensor. The end result is a beautiful 100-megapixel (11552 × 8672-pixel) photo that properly reproduces fine details and can be stored in both RAW and JPEG formats. Multiple modes for photographing a variety of scenarios, including those with motion, are offered to give photographers the most shooting versatility.

Professional-quality video performance for unlimited expression

The GH6 has a remarkable C4K 60p 10-bit 4:2:2 limitless video recording capability. Furthermore, high frame rate video recording has been improved to incorporate 4K 120p 10-bit 4:2:0 and FHD 240p 10-bit 4:2:2 (with audio recording), allowing for amazing expressiveness such as speed ramping. VFR (Variable Frame Rate) is available in Full HD 10-bit at up to 300fps for dynamic slow motion.

Wide screen anamorphic content

When using dedicated anamorphic lenses or filters, the GH6 provides full-sensor 5.8K 30p 10-bit recording for filmmakers requiring widescreen anamorphic imagery. It is possible to display de-squeezed footage for real-time monitoring.

4:2:2 10-bit C4K 60p video recording

The LUMIX GH6 also supports 4:2:2 10-bit C4K 60p both internally and externally through HDMI. With a future firmware upgrade, HDMI 2.1 will offer C4K 120p HDMI video output. An upcoming firmware upgrade will also enable C4K 120p 12-bit RAW output to the Atomos Ninja V+ monitor recorder.

Multiple video assist functions

Panasonic has integrated video assist capabilities such as a Waveform Monitor, Zebra Pattern, Luminance Spot Meter, Frame Marker, Anamorphic Desqueeze Display, Red REC Frame Indicator, and Tally lamps in response to expert user requirements. Safety Zone Marker, which gives a guide of 95 percent, 90 percent, or 80 percent recording area, is one of the new updated features, and Centre Marker now enables you to select the type of marker. The kelvin values can now be presented on the user interface while filming under Colour Temperature Setting.

High resolution audio recording

High-resolution audio recording is now possible, with up to 24-bit 96kHzv support. Videographers can capture four channels of audio using the optional XLR Microphone Adaptor DMW-XLR1 and the 3.5mm input jack/built-in microphone, avoiding the requirement for external audio recording devices. External microphone combinations can be employed to best meet the recording scenario, such as outdoor interviews when both voices and ambient sound must be recorded. During video recording, the headphone channel can be altered, and audio menus can be accessed immediately using the Fn1 button on top of the camera for quick sound level checks during 4-channel audio recording.

Internal time lapse

Inside the camera, 4K 60p Time Lapse footage can also be created. The Exposure Levelling tool automatically adjusts the exposure to eliminate dramatic fluctuations in brightness between adjacent frames, allowing day-to-night 'holy grail' time lapses to be recorded in-camera. Users can understand the required parameters without the usage of other apps/intervalometers thanks to the inbuilt time-lapse calculator.

Agile and smart operation for professional use

The autofocus capability of the LUMIX GH6 has been improved by taking advantage of the upgraded sensor and image processing engine. Subject detection performance has been greatly improved to produce higher accuracy AF thanks to faster signal processing by the new image processor and an upgraded AF algorithm. The AF Focus Limiter is a new feature that allows users to specify a near and distant range that the camera's autofocus will stay within, ensuring consistent results in difficult settings.

Manual focusing assist

The LUMIX GH6 offers practical manual focusing options, such as MF Assist, which allows the focus point to be increased while video recording, to support high-precision focusing. By altering the degrees required for the lens to travel over the focus range from close to infinity focus, the linear focus control allows for reproducible focus pulls.

Free-angle touch-control 3.0-inch Screen

The LUMIX GH6 boasts a flexible free-angle touch-control 3.0-inch LCD back monitor to improve shooting ergonomics (3:2 aspect, 1840K-dot resolution). Tilt/rotation angle can be easily adjusted so that HDMI and USB cords do not get in the way during shooting. A huge, 3,680K-dot OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) LVF (Live View Finder) with a magnification ratio of about 1.52x / 0.76x is included (35mm camera equivalent).

Easy content sharing with smartphones

For convenient content sharing with mobile phones, the GH6 supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 5GHz (IEEE802.11ac)/2.4GHz (IEEE802.11b/g/n). A smartphone can serve as the camera's remote control using an always-on Bluetooth connection and the LUMIX Sync mobile app. When shooting with several cameras, the settings of a GH6 camera can be copied and communicated to additional GH6 cameras (either via LUMIX Sync or SD Card). LUMIX Sync also allows for no-hassle software updates.

Future firmware updates

There is a strong firmware roadmap to expand GH6 capabilities. The following functions will be available with future firmware updates to meet evolving customer needs.

  • DCI4K ProRes 422 HQ / ProRes 4 2 2
  • FHD ProRes 422 HQ / ProRes 4 2 2
  • USB-SSD direct recording
