It allows you to secure various accessories like monitors to the 1/4"-20 end. Additionally, you can attach the 1/4"-20 end to camera cages, enabling you to mount an arm to the ball head. The slotted hole towards the top facilitates tightening the ball head securely to your cage using an Allen key.
