The Sony FX3A is a cinema-grade camera which has been designed for solo-shooting comfort. Its high-end feature set and superb quality makes it an excellent choice for creative professionals.

Professional Design for Handheld Operation

This professional filmmaking tool is housed in a compact camera body with a design that favours a handheld style of shooting. Without compromising quality the Sony Cinema Line FX3A is lightweight and portable for extended recording comfort. Utilising a unique cage free body design, there are various mount points on the actual camera itself. This allows the attachment of filmmaking accessories such as handles, magic arms, battery rigs and much more. This camera is an excellent option for those wanting an expandable kit with professional results. A removable top handle gives an added level of operation, without a cage, remaining compact. The handle has 3 additional mounting points for more accessories, with the top handle location well suited to accessories like screens and microphones. Also within the handle are XLR audio inputs for high fidelity sound, ensuring you get the most professional results with video and audio.
A dedicated zoom lever even gives you one handed power-zoom control with compatible lenses.

Optimised Controls

The camera controls that are in frequent use have been located on the top face for easy operation with your thumb, when holding the camera. Other controls are conveniently placed on the back of the camera for right hand operation. Whatever your style of recording, the main camera controls are placed perfectly for right hand operation. This leaves your left hand free to operate the lens, excellent when pulling manual focus in a filmmaking setting. Some of the easy to reach settings include the MENU button and navigation controls, a focus magnifier, customisable record button.

Superb Quality

The Sony Cinema FX3A covers the large range of recording formats that you would come to expect from a professional unit like this. Easily adjust your settings to suit the large number of requirements depending on the output quality, usage or to more easily fit your footage in to a multiple camera film set. This camera films in a variety of resolutions and compression rates, offering an extreme 16-bit RAW output in 4264 x 2408 (16:9 aspect ratio) resolution. RAW footage gives more options for those looking to correct and colour-grade their projects in post-production. The high resolution covers the technical requirements of 4K filming.
Frame rate options include 60p, 50p, 30p, 25p, and 24p increasing compatibility with professional systems. This gives you a wide range of options when using the camera as a B-cam or even recording slow motion. The camera will even output the 16-bit RAW footage at the same time as internally recording other formats of footage such as proxy files. In short this makes this camera a winner on set fitting perfectly into a professional grade workflow.

4K 60p Uninterrupted Recording

A fan is built into the camera body, keeping the camera cool and allowing you to shoot all-day without delays while the camera cools down. This passive cooling efficiently reduces temperature in the whole system. This prevents heat build-up that can result in thermal shutdown in some cameras, occurring when the image sensor and processor get too hot. You can be sure of continuous and uninterrupted filming up to 4K 60p, with the appropriate battery or mains power source. This is an excellent feature for filmmakers working on jobs such as film projects with longs shots, wedding films, electronic news gathering, and the like.

AI Autofocus

With a total of 627 phase-detection AF points and 425 Contrast-detect AF points when recording in movie mode, the accuracy and speed of focus is exceptional. AI-based Real-time Eye AF makes tracking your subject a breeze when creating stills or video.

Anti-Dust System

A filter positioned at the front of the image sensor utilises an ultrasonic frequency system to remove dust and particles. This system oscillates at an 70,000 cycles per second for excellent results. When shooting professional video or stills a spot of dust can drastically reduce the quality of the output and make for hours of extra time in post-production, tediously correcting the stills or video.
By activating when you turn the camera on, cleaning occurs without your input. For times when you want to clean there is also a manual option. Often the dust enters the system when performing the common task of changing lenses, so you have that extra level of protection and peace of mind.

Tough Construction

The magnesium alloy camera chassis inside the Sony FX3A is both rigid and lightweight. This extra durability of the body of the front cover, the top, the rear cover and the internal frame makes for a professional-grade durability. The on-body accessory attachment mounting holes on the cage-less design have been machined from a hard stainless steel, giving you maximum reliability and resistance from wear.
Even the lens mount has been fortified with 6 screws on the mount, ensuring a rigid connection, even with larger lenses such as super-telephotos.

Creating in the Elements

Responding to feedback from working pros dust and moisture resistant elements have been employed through the camera. All body seams and the battery and media covers have dust and moisture sealing employed. Even the cooling airflow is isolated from the body internals, ensuring peace of mind when shooting in less-than-ideal scenarios such as rain or with sand blowing.
An inbuilt active IS, with 5.5 steps (CIPA) image stabilisation works to give you professional results even in lower light by steadying the sensor.

High Quality Audio Recordings

An important part of any professional capture is the audio quality, and this camera gives you high quality audio recording with the 2 XLR inputs on the top handle with a variety of recording formats with up to 4 channels.
