The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens is designed specifically for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. It’s ultra-fast aperture makes it a perfect choice for low light photography  and the stepping motor provides fast and quiet focusing when shooting video. The lightweight portable design makes this lens useful for a variety of genres including street photography, documentary production, and environmental portraits. 

With a 30mm focal length the sigma lens has a field of view that is appropriate for a wide range of photographic applications. On a APS-C sized sensor the 30mm deliver a focal length closer to 45mm, and just like the popular nifty-fifty lenses this creates a more natural perspective that wide angles lenses or telephoto lenses perfect for candid portraits and street photography.

The Sigma Contemporary Lens is equipped with an ultra-wide f/1.4 aperture to allows you to shoot stunning pictures even in dim light scenarios without needing to use of flash or a high ISO setting on your camera to compensate. The wide aperture setting also allows you to create exaggerated shallow depth of field shots.

The lens is equipped with a stepping autofocus motor to provides fast and quiet autofocus performance. The stepping motor makes the AF operation highly responsive, and suitable for both stills and run-and-gun video work.

The optical construction of the Sigma lens consists of 9 elements arranged in 7 groups with one aspherical element, one double-sided aspherical element and one high-refraction glass element. The combination of glass elements delivers distortion-free images and tack sharp results with natural colours.

Like many of the lenses from Sigma’s Contemporary series the 30mm has a 9-bladed rounded diaphragm which renders out of focus areas with a pleasing, smooth bokeh. This also means you can shoot with a closed down aperture, so light sources are transformed into star bursts to create eye-catching nightscapes.

The lens elements have a super multi-layer coating used to reduce flare and ghosting, especially while shooting backlit subjects or while shooting in strong lighting conditions. The coating in combination with the lenses optical construction enable the production of crisp images with impressive contrast and clarity.

The firmware of Sigma 30 mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Series Lens can be easily updated using the Sigma USB Dock (sold separately). This increases the longevity of the lens by allowing it to be updated with any new autofocus algorithms developed by Sigma ensuring that you can take advantage of the most up to date software.
