The OM SYSTEM PEN Mirrorless Camera with M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III Lens Kit is a compact, versatile Micro Four Thirds camera kit designed for travel, everyday photography, street shooting and creative content. Combining the classic PEN rangefinder-inspired design with a built-in electronic viewfinder, 20.4MP Live MOS sensor, 5-axis image stabilisation and weather-resistant construction, it delivers a highly portable setup without compromising on creative control. 

Paired with the compact M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III standard zoom lens, the kit covers a useful 28-84mm equivalent focal range, making it suitable for landscapes, travel, portraits, everyday snapshots and close-up photography. The lens features a retractable design, dust- and splashproof construction and strong close-focusing performance, making it a natural match for the portable PEN body. 

20.4MP Live MOS Sensor & TruePic IX Processor

At the heart of the OM SYSTEM PEN is a 20.37 million effective pixel Live MOS sensor paired with the TruePic IX image processing engine. Together with high-resolution M.Zuiko Digital lenses, this combination delivers detailed images with rich colour and strong overall image quality across a wide variety of shooting situations. 

5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilisation

The PEN features built-in 5-axis image stabilisation compatible with mountable Micro Four Thirds lenses, helping reduce the effects of camera shake during handheld shooting. Stabilisation performance reaches up to 5.5 stops at the centre of the frame and up to 4.5 stops at the edges, helping photographers work more confidently in low light or at slower shutter speeds.

Electronic Viewfinder & Compact PEN Design

The OM SYSTEM PEN combines a timeless rangefinder-style design with a modern electronic viewfinder, giving photographers a clear and engaging way to compose images while adjusting aperture, shutter speed and other settings. Its compact, lightweight form makes it especially well suited to travel and everyday carry. 

Dust- & Splashproof Construction

For the first time in the PEN series, the camera body features IPX1-rated splashproof performance and a dustproof design. Sealing is incorporated at key points around the body, helping photographers keep shooting when conditions change unexpectedly. When paired with a compatible dust- and splashproof lens, the PEN becomes an even more capable everyday and travel camera.

M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III Standard Zoom Lens

The included M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III is a compact and lightweight standard zoom lens designed specifically for the Micro Four Thirds system. Its 14-42mm focal range provides a 35mm-equivalent angle of view of approximately 28-84mm, covering everything from wide-angle scenes and travel photography through to portraits and mid-range telephoto shooting. 

The optical design uses 8 elements in 7 groups, including three aspherical lenses to help minimise aberrations and maintain image quality across the zoom range. Multi-coated lens surfaces help deliver clear rendering, while a circular aperture contributes to more natural-looking background blur.

Excellent Close-Up Performance

The 14-42mm lens offers impressive close-up versatility, with a closest focusing distance of 0.13m at the wide-angle end and a maximum image magnification of 0.53x equivalent in 35mm terms. Subjects can be photographed from approximately 4cm from the front of the lens, making the kit useful for food, details, flowers and everyday close-up photography. 

The lens also supports OM SYSTEM's Focus Stacking computational photography function, helping maintain more of the subject in focus when working at close distances where depth of field becomes shallow. 

Compact Retractable Lens Design

A retractable lens mechanism helps keep the 14-42mm compact when stored. The lens can be extended or retracted simply by rotating the zoom ring, providing a quick and seamless shooting experience without requiring a separate release switch.

Weather-Resistant Lens Construction

Like the PEN body, the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III features IPX1-rated splashproof performance and a dustproof design. This gives the complete kit additional protection against changing weather conditions, rain and spray when used as intended with a compatible weather-resistant camera body. 

Colour & Monochrome Profile Control

The OM SYSTEM PEN gives photographers extensive control over the look of their images through Colour Profile Control and Monochrome Profile Control. Colour Profile Control allows the saturation of 12 individual colours to be adjusted across 11 levels, with presets including Film Rich Colour, Film Vivid and Film Soft Tone. :

For black-and-white photography, Monochrome Profile Control offers Colour Filter, Highlight & Shadow, Shading, Film Grain and Tone effects, with presets including Film B&W, Film IR and Film Low Contrast. 

Computational Photography Made Easy

A dedicated CP button provides fast access to OM SYSTEM's computational photography features, including Tripod High Res Shot, Handheld High Res Shot, Live ND, Focus Stacking, HDR and Multiple Exposure. These tools allow photographers to create effects directly in-camera that would traditionally require additional accessories or post-processing. 

Advanced Autofocus & High-Speed Shooting

The OM SYSTEM PEN features a 121-point all cross-type on-chip phase detection autofocus system, along with AI Subject Detection AF for people, cats and dogs, plus Starry Sky AF for night photography. Pro Capture can record up to 12 frames before the shutter button is fully pressed at speeds of up to 30 fps, helping capture fast or unpredictable moments. 

Creative Video Features

For hybrid shooters, the PEN includes dedicated OM-Cinema1 and OM-Cinema2 picture modes designed for cinematic video recording, as well as support for vertical video and S&Q slow- and quick-motion shooting. A built-in tally light also makes it easier to confirm when recording is active.
