Canon shooters rejoice! The Canon EOS R5, the camera everyone has been asking for has been announced, and boy, does it look promising!
Continuing the EOS 5D Tradition
Canon’s 5 series in their DSLR range has always had a passionate fan base. They were always popular with professionals and serious enthusiasts, much in part to the bleeding edge technology that was simply ahead of the rest.
Suits Professionals and Prosumers
We think this is the most important camera Canon has released in the past decade. It will be the starting point for a lot of 5D DSLR shooters who are looking to upgrade due to the age of their existing gear and client demands where more and more professional photographers are branching into shooting video in an attempt to grow their customer base.
Canon has certainly thrown down the gauntlet to ensure the 5 Series range continues its reputation as the standard for commercial and prosumer photographers.
This is the feature that everyone has been talking about. Canon has once again pushed the boundaries of video, and has introduced internal, uncropped 8K video recording at up to 29.97fps, and 4K video recording at up to 119.9fps. These new capabilities have revolutionised video capture and will provide nothing short of professional quality results.
Impeccable Autofocus and Subject Detection
Another feature Canon has stepped up is the Ultra-High-Speed Autofocus. With the ability to automatically detect Face, Head and Eye tracking when People detection mode is set, the ease and accuracy of focusing is second to none. Detection of Animals will also be possible for the first time, meaning you can now track the entire body, face or eye of cats, dogs and birds.
Advanced Full-Frame CMOS Sensor
Canon has introduced a completely new CMOS image sensor and DIGIC processor, which delivers the highest quality images and has raised the bar for both stills and videos.
High Speed Shooting up to 20fps
No need to worry if you’re shooting a fast-moving subject…or if your subject isn’t being the most cooperative, the EOS R5 can capture up to 12fps with mechanical shutter and up to 20fps with silent shutter. There really is nothing you can’t capture.
In-Body Image Stabilisation
The EOS R5 is Canon’s first camera to incorporate 5-axis IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilisation), reducing camera shake while video recording, and also allowing users to more effectively shoot at slower shutter speeds. The IBIS will work alongside the Optical Image Stabilisation, which is found in numerous Canon RF and EF lenses.
Dual Card Slots
No matter what you are shooting or recording, a super high-speed CFexpress card slot plus a UHS-II card slot will constantly make your life easier.
