Unique Optical Design

The Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus (STF) Lens boasts a unique optical design with a special apodization (APD) lens element and dual independent aperture diaphragms. This allows you to control the bokeh more creatively, helping you to capture stunning shallow depth of field photographs. The lens is compatible with both full frame and APS-C DSLRs, and is available in various mounting options to suit Nikon F, Canon EF, Sony A and Pentax K mounts.

Special APD Element

The Laowa lens is equipped with a special APD element that acts in a similar fashion as a ND filter to produce the beautiful creamy bokeh preferred by most portrait photographers for highlighting their subject. The thickness of the APD element gradually increases toward the edge creating a gentle light falloff adding to the beauty of the bokeh giving you a softer bokeh compared to traditional wide aperture lenses.

Dual Aperture Bokeh Control

The dual aperture design of the Laowa 105mm includes two distinct diaphragms, one 8 bladed F-stop aperture that can be adjusted in whole steps an another perfectly circular 14 blade T-Stop diaphragm.

Full Manual Control

The 105mm lens features a manual focus ring as well as dual aperture rings for each diaphragm so you can be in complete control over your shot and your bokeh. As with most manual lenses there is no electronic communication with the camera so we suggest enabling focus peaking where available and setting your camera to aperture priority for optimum sharpness and accurate exposure in your image.

High Performance Optics

The Laowa STF lens features 3 low dispersion elements and 1 extra refractive index element that reduces the chromatic aberration helping you get natural looking colours and tack sharp details in your photographs. 11 elements are arranged in 8 groups and deliver excellent optical results with enhanced sharpness.

Various Mounting Options

The Laowa 105mm f/2 STF Lens is available in Nikon F, Sony EF and Sony A and Pentax K mounts and suits both full frame and APS-C format cameras.
