Unprecedented Resolution

The Sony A7R IV redefines resolution with its brand new back-illuminated full-frame sensor boasting an incredible 61 megapixels. With 15 stops of dynamic range, this sensor brings medium format quality to the A7 line-up. The new UXGA OLED 'Tru-finder' EVF provides a seamless shooting experience with a massive 5.76 million-dot resolution and 120fps refresh rate.

With a sophisticated autofocus system made up on 567 phase detection autofocus points and 425 contrast points, the camera delivers the pinpoint autofocus accuracy needed to capture sharp images of fast-moving subjects. Combined with Sony’s Eye AF and real-time tracking system, this equips the A7R3MK4 with a lightning fast autofocus ability. In direct response to feedback from pro shooters, Sony have improved the weather sealing and redesigned the control layout and customisation to dramatically improve ergonomics and handling.

Full Frame 61.0 Megapixel BSI Sensor

Boasting an unprecedented image resolution, the Sony A7RM4 has the world's first 61-megapixel back-illuminated full frame sensor, designed to capture incredibly fine image detail.

Packed with pixels and incredibly sensitive, the sensor can capture superbly sharp images with a low noise profile.

The latest BIONZ-X chip works in conjunction with a front-end LSI system to deliver the same impressive ISO range of 100-320,00 just like the previous model, despite the significant higher image resolution of the Sony Alpha 7R Mark IV.

5.76 Million-dot OLED EVF

Designed to provide a seamless shooting experience, the A7r4 features a brand-new OLED electronic viewfinder with an impressive 5.76-Million dots resolution.

A fluorine coating on the EVF helps keep it clean and smudge free so you can always see a clear view of your composition

With a new lightning-fast refresh rate of 120fps tracking moving subjects is easier and more intuitive than ever.

5.5 Stop SteadyShot System

The camera delivers 5.5 stops of image stabilisation with Sony’s in-body SteadyShot system, key to ensure the sharpness of the sensor isn’t compromised by vibrations.

Combined with the camera’s electronic shutter this can completely eradicate any shakes that could be caused by the mechanical shutter for precise sharpness when shooting ultra-fine detail.

Improved Handling and Weather Sealing

In order to meet the high demands of working professionals, the A7r4 features improved weather proofing to protect the camera when shooting in the elements.

Handling has also been completely redesigned with a relocated rear dial, larger AF button and a larger more comfortable grip.

567 Phase Detection & 425 Contrast Autofocus Points

For unrelenting autofocus performance and tracking, the camera has 567 phase detection and 425 contrast detection points built into the sensor.

This provides wide image coverage for incredible autofocus performance in conditions as dark as -3EV, despite the incredibly high resolution of the A7R Mark IV.

Combined with Sony’s real-time tracking technology that is now available in both the video and stills modes.

Realtime Eye-AF for Stills & Video

Using a sophisticated artificial intelligence system, the Sony A7R MK 4 uses can precisely identify and track either the left or right the eye of your subject to ensure ultra-sharp portraits every time.

When an eye isn’t detected, the system switches instead to highly accurate real-time tracking.

Eye-AF can even be used with animals and now works in video mode as well.

10 fps AF/AE Tracking with 68 Shot Buffer

The camera can capture 10 shots a second, with a mechanical shutter using an improved buffer that holds up to 68 images despite the cameras increased resolution.

In the APS-C mode the buffer increases 3x, which is ideal for sports, nature and animal photographers.

4K Resolution HDR Video

Able to record incredible ultra-high resolution 4K video footage, the camera has a Super-35mm mode for enhanced detail as well as the HLG colour profile for faster HDR workflows.

The 4K resolution is down sampled from a 6K sensor readout, to deliver sharp footage that springs to life when enjoyed on a 4K television.

Pixel Shift Multi Shooting

The A7r Mark IV now offers an improved pixel shift ability, that can capture up to 16 images, while shifting the sensor for ground-breaking high-resolution results.

Combined with the new sensor, this allows the creation of gigantic 240.8-megapixel stills with super-sharp ultra-fine detail.

Wireless 5Ghz Tethered Shooting

Sony’s Image Edge ‘Remote’ Software has been updated to support the camera’s 5Ghz wireless connectivity for cable-free tethering when shooting in the studio or on location.

Alternatively, the UBS 3.2 Gen 1 port can be used for ultra-fast shooting for wired PC remote shooting that can transfer uncompressed RAW images without interruption.

Dual UHS-II SD Card Slots

With the Sony A7R Mark IV, Sony have listened to the feedback from professionals and upgraded the other card slot on the camera to UHS-II, for consistent ultra-fast dual card performance.

This provides the peace of mind for both photographers and videographers that their work is protected against card failure when shooting for clients.
