Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L Macro

The Canon TS-E 50mm f/2.8L Macro is a versatile prime lens that offers a macro focusing capability and a tilt-shift mechanism for enhanced creative control over your image perspective and depth-of-field. With a 50mm focal length and 27cm minimum focus distance, this lens is ideal for portrait and product photography.

Versatile 50mm Focal Length

With a versatile 50mm focal length, the full frame EF mount lens mimics the field of view of the human eye but with a tilt-and-shift function that allows you to capture unique perspectives for both stills and images. No need to choose which eye to focus on when shooting a subject who isn’t facing the camera front-on, the tilt-shift function allows you to ensure both eyes are sharp by adjusting the focus plane.

Large Maximum f/2.8 Aperture

A bright f/2.8 aperture increases your ability to shoot handheld in low light conditions using either a fast shutter speed to prevent camera shake, a low ISO to avoid noise, or a combination of both. Together with its 9-blade circular diaphragm, the large aperture also produces a beautiful de-focused effect and eliminates distractions from the background.

Tilt-and-Shift Functionality

The TSE 50mm lens delivers comprehensive control with a tilt function that allows you to adjust the plane of focus by changing the angle of the lens from +8.5° to -8.5°. This means you can control your depth of field with absolute precision. You can also shift the lens up and down 12mm to straighten parallel lines and control perspective distortion.

Optimised for Macro Photography

With a minimum focus distance of 27cm you can get up-close to your subject to produce 1:2 life size images with realistic details. This is especially useful for commercial product and food photography when you need to capture important parts of a scene without necessarily shooting with a deep depth-of-field.

High Performance L-Series Optical Design

Superior precision-moulded optics ensures that the lens supports high-resolution sensors. Two Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) elements reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations while the aspherical element minimises spherical aberrations and distortion for sharp results with natural colours.

Air Sphere and SubWavelength Structure Coatings

To further enhance optical performance, the lens elements include two anti-reflective coatings. A Sub Wavelength Structure Coating (SWC) reduces flare and ghosting, while an Air Sphere Coating (ASC) coating significantly minimises reflections to allow for more light to enter the lens for a glare free image.

User Friendly Controls

The Canon TSE 50 mm f/2.8 L Series Macro Tilt Shift Lens features large dials that allow you to adjust the shot without taking your eyes off the action. A built-in tilt-locking mechanism firmly locks against prevent unintended tilting for fast and intuitive control. The lens can also be rotated 90° while attached, giving you enhanced compositional control.
