Wide-Angle Lens for Fujifilm GFX Series

The Laowa17mm f/4 Zero-D is a wide-angle lens designed specifically for the Fujifilm GFX series of medium format, high-resolution, mirrorless cameras. In 35mm equivalence, the 17mm lens converts to around 13mm, providing an ultra-wide angle of view of 113°, ideal for architecture, interiors or landscape photography. With a minimum focusing distance of 20cm, a virtually distortion-free optical design and a versatile 86mm filter thread, this lens is a must-have for anyone shooting with the Fujifilm GFX system.

Ultra Wide Angle Lens for Fujifilm GFX Cameras

Laowa have created an excellent manual focus lens that meets the demands of photographers shooting landscape, architecture and interior photography with the Fujifilm GFX medium format system. With an impressive 17mm focal length that converts to approximately 13mm in 35mm equivalent terms, the lens has a field of view of approximately 113° that allows the creation of wide compositions packed with rich detail.

Bright f/4 Aperture with 5-Blade Design

An uneven number of 5 aperture blades doubles the number of sun-star points that can be created by stopping down and adding a strong point light source to your frame. They also render a shallow depth of field with a smooth and creamy bokeh in the out of focus areas. The aperture can be adjusted with a manual control ring and ranges from a maximum f/4 to a minimum f/32.

Minimal Focus Distance of 20cm

Get closer than you ever thought was possible with the close focusing ability of the 17mm lens. This allows you to experiment with a super wide-angle perspective from as close as 20cm from the image sensor without losing the ability to focus on your subject. The lens also features a FEC (Frog eye-coating) on the front element that makes it easier to keep the lens clean.

High-Resolution Optics

The folks at Laowa are well-known for creating lenses and optics with a focus, if you’ll pardon the pun, on image performance and sharpness. The 17mm f/4 lens is no exception and in fact it’s one of the sharpest lenses they’ve ever created. It uses a sophisticated construction of 21 optical elements arranged in 14 groups that deliver the edge-to-edge sharpness that high resolution medium format sensors demand.

Zero-Distortion Performance

Joining the prestigious Zero-D line-up, the 17mm boasts a performance with close-to-zero optical distortion by making us of aspherical and extra-low dispersion glass element. This makes it a fantastic lens for architecture and interior shots when symmetry and straight vertical lines are important. Distortion is plagues wide-angle lenses especially towards the edge of the frame but this lens and the others in the Zero-D range offer excellent distortion-free performance.

Filter-Friendly Design

Most wide-angle lenses have a bulbous front element that means to mount a filter holder an additional adaptor is required. The 17mm lens has an 86mm filter thread instead, making super easy to add filters and a filter holder directly onto the lens itself.
