With a constant T/2.9 aperture, you'll get great low-light performance and a shallow depth of field. This lightweight lens also features an advanced optical design that minimises focus shift during zooming, as well as controlled lens breathing when focusing, giving you smoother, more cinematic control.

Versatile 18-55mm Cine Lens

Built for the Fujifilm X Mount, the lens has a highly useful focal range of 18-55mm (27-82.5mm in 35mm equivalent) that provides a massive range of compositional options when framing your scene and blocking out camera movements. When paired with the MKX 50-135mm, the MKX lenses cover the most frequently used focal range of 18mm to 135mm for ultimate versatility.

Consistent T/2.9 Aperture in Zoom Range

Throughout the entire zoom range, the lens delivers a bright aperture of T/2.9 that reduces the need to use heavy-duty lighting setups. The wider aperture also allows you to conceptualise shots that use a dramatic shallow depth of field.

Optics Designed for Cinema

The zoom and front focusing elements inside the lens move independently, which supresses any focus and optical axis shift while zooming and eliminates the need to re-focus your shot after zooming in or out. An inner-focusing system ensures the elements in your frame stay in the same position by controlling lens breathing.

Featuring six super extra low dispersion elements and two extra low dispersion elements, the lens boasts a complex optical construction with 22 elements that are arranged in 17 groups. This ensures that the lens can produce images with edge to edge sharpness and superior clarity.

Manual Rings for Focus, Zoom and Aperture

Three separate control rings allow iris, focus and zoom to be adjusted manually and independently. The mechanical control is superior than focus by wire systems because it provides complete control with no time lag. With a de-clicked aperture and a focus ring that rotates over 200°, the lens can perform perfect focus and iris pulls with excellent precision.

Standardised Compatibility

All the lens rings have a gear pitch of 0.8M, and the geared controls are positioned at the same point on each MKX cine lenses, which allows you to easily use swap lenses without needing to adjust follow focus rigs and other accessories. They also share the same filter size of 82mm and are both compatible with the same matte box that has an 85mm diameter.

Electrical Contact Points

Communication between the lens and camera is possible with the inclusion of electrical contacts on the mount of the lens. This electronic communication allows for distortion correction, controlled colour and brightness shading and support for enhanced colour expressions with the aid of Fuji’s Film Simulation modes.

Adjustable Focal Flange Distance

With a function that allows you to adjust the Flange Focal Distance, the lens can be fine-tuned to suit various cameras ensuring superior optical performance.

Minimum Focusing Distance of 0.38m

The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 0.38m at the wide end that is well suited for capturing detailed close-up shots.
