Mark Twain famously said “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” This quote perfectly sums up the ethos for the Sony RX100 VII.

Ultimate Processing Speed

Revolutionising what photographers would call a ‘pocket powerhouse’ the RX100 Mark 7 leverages the pure processing speed of the flagship Sony A9 mirrorless camera and crams it into a truly pocketable premium compact camera.

Super-Fast Burst Mode Shooting

This means the RX100 VII delivers an amazing 20fps continuous burst mode shooting with zero blackout, 60 times per second continuous autofocus and autoexposure calculations and an amazing new ultra-fast single burst mode at 90fps for seven photos (0.011 sec delay between each image).

Professional Movie Making Tool

But its amazing capabilities to shoot still photographs is just the tip of the iceberg. The RX100 M7 also offers pro-level movie performance. Perfect for vlogging, its new A9 architecture offers Real-time Eye AF in video -a feature only found on the latest A7R IV mirrorless flagship. In addition, the RX100 VII also offers real-time tracking, meaning you can now continually focus on virtually any subject regardless of how its moving through your frame while recording video.

Versatile 24-200mm Telephoto Zoom Lens

Now, combine that speed and amazing AF performance with the unbelievable versatility of a Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 24-200mm f/2.8-4.5 lens, throw in an effective 4-stop optical image stabilisation system for good measure and you can see why everyone is calling it a pocket powerhouse.

Suitable for All Content Creators

Ideal for travellers, multimedia artists, YouTubers, Vloggers, content creators and photographers from beginners to professionals, the RX100 VII can truly do it all.

Stacked 20.1 Megapixel Sensor with DRAM Chip

Inside the compact camera is re-developed 1-inch 20.1-megapixel EXMOR RS CMOS sensor that delivers excellent detail and true to life colour reproduction. Its stacked design utilises the BIONZ X processor from the Sony Alpha 9 combined with a front-end LSI chip to deliver ultra-fast readout speeds. All this results in the ability to shoot ultra-fast photos, super-slow-motion video, full sensor readout 4K movies, ultra-fast Hybrid AF with an impressive 0.02sec speed and so much more.

8.3X Zoom 24-200mm Zeiss Vario-Sonnar Lens

The RX100M7’s all-encompassing telephoto focal range from 24mm to a 200mm equips you with absolute compositional freedom, perfect for travel because of its ability to handle a wide variety of photographic scenarios. Landscapes, portraits, sports, action, selfies, wildlife. It covers virtually all bases.

Bright f/2.8-4.5 Aperture for Shallow Depth of Field

Combining with the super versatile focal range the camera has a bright f/2.8 aperture at the wide end of the zoom and f/4.5 when fully extended, allowing you to create images with a soft out-of-focus background. The improved image processor improves maximum ISO to 12800 for better low-light performance.

4-Stop Optical Image Stabilisation

Boasting a huge 4-stops of optical image stabilisation, the RX100 VII compensates for camera shake and movement to produce sharper images and smoother video, even when shooting at telephoto magnifications. This impressive vibration reduction produces better results in low-light conditions or when shooting handheld.

Capture 4K HDR Footage with Full Pixel Readout

The ultra-fast readout speed of the stacked sensor combined with the BIONZ X image processor and Front-end LSI allow the camera to record ultra-high definition 4K video without any pixel binning for maximum detail. Sony’s HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) means you can record HDR footage that can be played back on a compatible TV with no additional grading or processing required.

960 fps Slow Motion Video

Taking advantage of the sensor super-quick readout speeds, the camera can record an ultra-fast burst of slow-mo in the HFR mode up to 960 frames per second. This translates to around 40x slower than normal speed, perfect for turning super quick moving action into epic moody slow-mo.

Vertical Video Metadata

For social influencers, a vertical position data recording function adds metadata to movie files shot in the portrait orientation which allows them to be transferred, edited and played in their native vertical orientation without needing to rotate and re-save the file before uploading.

Microphone Jack

Vloggers Rejoice! The RX100 VII now includes a microphone jack, allowing you to use an external microphone for better quality audio. This inclusion better equips you with the ability to more naturally convey your message to your audience, enabling you to minimise background noise normally associated with built-in microphones.

Ultra-Fast Focus in 0.02 Seconds

With a Hybrid AF system, the RX 100 Mark 7 improves upon its predecessor by 33% acquiring autofocus in an unbelievably fast 0.02 seconds. It has 357 focal-plane phase-detection points that cover 68% of the image area, allowing you to accurate tracking moving subjects whether your capturing stills or movies.

20fps Burst Shooting with AF and AE tracking

The sheer processing power packed into this portable camera allows it to shoot an impressive burst of 20 images a second with autofocus, autoexposure tracking and zero blackout. This means you can capture the action of a professional sports photographer with a camera that fits in a jacket pocket or handbag.

Upgraded Eye-AF Algorithm

Sony’s premium compact camera improves on the eye-tracking autofocus function found on the higher end Sony models with a more accurate algorithm that keeps focus locked on your subject’s eyes even if they look down, away or are in partial darkness. In addition, the setting can now be used in real-time when recording video, making it the perfect vloggers camera of choice. The algorithm can also be customised to pre-select your subjects left or right eye, maximising your models’ sharpness.

Real-Time Eye AF for Animals

Another innovative addition to the AF improvements in the RX100M7 is the Real-Time Eye AF feature for animals. Traditionally hard to photograph due to their unpredictable nature, your pet dog or cat will not be able to escape the accuracy of Sony’s Eye-AF, allowing you to photography them with point-and-shoot simplicity.

Pop-Up 2.35M OLED Viewfinder

The RX100 VII features a pop-up OLED viewfinder, that makes switching between LCD and EVF shooting easier than ever. With the flick of a button the 2.36 Million dot OLED viewfinder springs to action, allowing you to frame your shots and check your focus with improved precision. The new design removes the need to pull the viewfinder hood before use, making it significantly quicker to ensure you don’t miss those fleeting moments.

Touchscreen with 180° Tilt Functionality

A 3-inch LCD screen on the back of the camera allows you to frame and review shots with ease. The screen tilts up a full 180° and down 90° so you can compose from unique angles, while the new touch focus function allows you track your subject simply by touching it on the screen. The touchscreen can also control manual focus when shooting with the viewfinder.

Time-Lapse + Enhanced Filmmaking Functionality

Discover your inner Spielberg. The Sony RX 100 VII is jam packed with features inherited from Sony’s high-end cinema cameras. It has a clean HDMI output, gamma display assist, zebra exposure guides, focus peaking, proxy recording and finally a built-in intervalometer for time-lapse shooting

Integrated Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth Connectivity

No camera would be complete these days without Wireless connectivity. The Sony RX100 VII delivers on all fronts with built-in Wi-Fi, NFC and Bluetooth functionality that lets you remotely control the camera from your mobile device, record location information, and transfer images and video via the free Sony PlayMemories mobile app.
