Powered by the BIONZ XR2 processor with integrated AI processing, the FX5 offers advanced subject recognition and responsive autofocus with up to 759 phase-detection points. This makes it easier to maintain accurate focus when filming moving subjects, interviews, events, documentaries and professional productions.

5K Full-Frame Cinema Quality

The fully stacked full-frame sensor supports high-resolution and high-frame-rate recording while maintaining wide latitude and natural-looking textures. Full-frame Open Gate recording provides additional flexibility for reframing, stabilisation and creating multiple aspect ratios from a single take.

The FX5 can record 16-bit scene-linear X-OCN compressed RAW internally, removing the need for a separate external RAW recorder. X-OCN LT, C1 and C2 options allow filmmakers to balance image quality, file size and post-production workflow requirements.

Flexible Performance in Any Lighting

Three Base ISO settings of ISO 800, ISO 4000 and ISO 12800 help the FX5 adapt to a wide range of shooting environments. From controlled studio lighting to low-light locations, the camera delivers clean shadows, reduced noise and consistent image quality.

Dual Gain Shooting further improves dynamic range and shadow detail by capturing different gain levels simultaneously. This provides smoother gradients and greater flexibility when colour grading footage in post-production.

Professional Audio and Connectivity

When paired with the optional Sony XLR-H2 Handle Unit, the FX5 supports up to four channels of professional audio, including 96kHz/32-bit float recording. This helps capture clean, detailed sound while reducing the risk of clipped audio during unpredictable shoots.

Professional connectivity includes dual USB-C ports, a 2.5G wired LAN connection, Wi-Fi 6GHz compatibility, Bluetooth 5.3, headphone and microphone connections, a Multi Interface Shoe and timecode support for multi-camera productions.
