HR and ED Optical Elements

Its internal construction consists of 11 glass elements in 8 groups which work to deliver razor sharp detail with eye-catching contrast and excellent colour fidelity. The four High Refractive elements and an Extra-Low dispersion element incorporated into the design minimises flare while reducing chromatic aberrations and delivering excellent edge-to-edge sharpness.

Compact, Lightweight Design

The four HR elements also allow for a much more compact design, reducing what is traditionally a moderately large and heavy lens to a unit that measure 9.95cm in length and weighs only 0.586kg.

Fast, Accurate, Quiet Auto Focusing

The autofocus ability of the 85mm f1.4 is delivered via a Dual Linear Sonic Motor (DLSM). Using ultra-sonic vibrations to control the focusing motor allows for a near-silent focusing experience, well suited to noise-sensitive shooting environments such as wedding ceremonies and perfect for shooting video.

Suits Sony FE mount and Sony E Mount

Important for critical focusing accuracy when shooting wide open, the high frequency focus lock signals are combined with Samyang’s proprietary protocols to deliver fast, consistent autofocus performance across the entire range of Sony’s full frame FE-Mount and APS-C E-mount range.
