The 1200mm F8 lens is constructed of 26 elements in 18 groups, including one ultra-low dispersion (UD) element, one Super UD element and two fluorite elements. The RF 1200mm f/8 L IS USM has been designed with weight and size in mind, being and incredible 299mm shorter and approximately 13kg lighter than it’s EF equivalent. Other features include IS with up to four stops of image stabilisation, three IS modes, a 52mm drop-in filter and a minimum focusing distance of 4.3m. New Canon Products

July 10th 2020

So, we knew that Canon was officially announcing the EOS R5 any day now, but what we didn’t know that was that they were announcing a whole hoard of products…10 to be exact. As of 10pm last night, the news was dropped that along with the R5, Canon was also announcing the EOS R6, four new lenses, two lens extenders, a battery grip and a printer.

Although it was an absolute bombshell announcement that took us by surprise (and resulted in us working in ultra-fast-motion over the past couple days…which we’re totally fine with because as you may have guessed, we’re pretty obsessed with anything photography here at DCW), it is a very Canon move to go that extra step an announce ten products instead of the anticipated one.

The main player in this new announcement is the R5, which we have been getting teasers about for the past couple months. Boasting 8K video (yes that’s right, 8K video), advanced Face and Eye Detect, 100% x 100% frame coverage, a 45 MP CMOS sensor and a whole lot more, this camera is an absolute game changer.

Next up, the R6 is inviting us into the new era of photography. Featuring unparalleled levels of speed, functionality, quality and low-light shooting capabilities, this camera exudes innovation. It includes the world’s best Image Stabilisation 8-stops with Coordinate Control IS, the world’s fastest auto focusing speed of an impressive 0.05 seconds, 4K 60p movie capabilities and an incredible low-light shooting ability.

To accompany the R5 and R6, the Battery Grip – BG-R10 has been announced, which offers increased grip comfort. Additionally, it holds two LP-E6NH, LP-E6N, or LP-E6 batteries that essentially doubles the shoot and standby time.

Canon haven’t held back at all and have also introduced us to the RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L IS USM, RF600mm F11 IS STM, RF800mm F11 IS STM and RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM lenses, which are all incredible additions to their respective lens categories. Canon is well known for its lens quality, and these lenses are no exception. And for all you nature, wildlife and sports photographers out there, the Lens RF 1.4x Extender and Lens RF 2x Extender have been announced, meaning you can now shoot further than ever whilst still producing crystal clear results.

Last but not least, Canon have shared the details of their newest printer, the PROGRAF PRO-300 A3+ Photo Printer. Delivering the most vibrant of colours, brightest whites and deepest blacks, this will take your prints to a whole new level.

Head here to view the entire range of new products.

The 12-24mm focal length makes this a perfect lens for landscape, nightscape, cityscape, architecture, sports and real estate photography. The width of the lens allows for vast landscapes to be easily captured, creating dynamic perspectives that are beyond the range of the human eye.

The lens sits at a constant f/2.8, meaning it is ready to tackle a range of situations light-wise, making a great choice for night skies and astro photography. Low-light environments are a piece of cake for this lens, with it still providing clean and crisp images in less than ideal conditions.

Another feature worth noting is the inclusion of Sony’s advanced XD linear motor technology, which produces quick and precise auto focus and tracking. This will come extremely beneficial for sports and landscape photography, as the technology promotes continuous autofocus on a subject, even as it speeds past. The fantastic mobility and compact design of the lens combined with the above features mean it is also a great companion to shoot movies with.
