DX Format Supercharged

The Nikon D500 is Nikon’s flagship DX-format DSLR. Packed with impressive technology taken directly from the Nikon D5. It offers incredible performance and pro level features in an agile and lightweight APS-C body. Built to meet the exacting needs of multimedia professionals and prosumers, this camera delivers incredible results.

Impressive ISO Capability

Powered by Nikon’s EXPEED 5 Image Processor and coupled with an APS-C 20.9 Megapixel Sensor, the D500 balances DX-format resolution with high ISO capability. The D500 has a base ISO of 100 and reaches up to an astonishing 1640000 equivalent in the extended Hi mode, letting you shoot stills and video in the darkest situations.

Wide AF Area Coverage

Featuring the Multi-Cam 20K autofocus sensor module, the D500 offers 153 AF points with wider and denser coverage of the image area than ever. With 99 cross type focus points and AF capability extended to as low as -4 EV sensitivity, the camera offers superior subject focus acquisition that works even in extremely low light and with low contrast subjects.

Superior Autofocus Tracking and Reliability

The bolstered AF tracking capability makes it possible to maintain accurate and precise focus on fast and erratic moving subjects. Refined AF lock-on settings let photographers adjust exactly how the camera responds in difficult tracking scenarios, such as when the tracked subject is obscured or moving unpredictably.

Shoots Up to 10 Frames Per Second

Making good use of the impressive AF is the high-speed continuous shooting performance of the camera. Shoot at up to 10 frames per second with continuous AF and metering and 14-bit lossless compressed RAW for up to 200 consecutive photographs. It’s perfect for capturing decisive moments of fast paced-action.

Auto AF Fine Tune Calibration

The camera integrates Nikon’s new Auto AF fine-tune feature which automatically calibrates the focus of your AF lenses at the centre point. Users can easily achieve perfect precision and focus accuracy with confidence.

180k Pixel Metering Sensor Improves Exposure and White Balance

Advanced Scene Recognition is now powered with a 180K-pixel RGB sensor, improving AF subject tracking, facial detection, auto-exposure and white balance. Users can select between 3 auto white balance to suit the purpose of the image with colours rendered faithfully white, balanced between ambient and original colour, or with a natural warmth.

Flicker Reduction Mode for Difficult Artificial Light

A flicker reduction function for still images ensures uniformity in white balance and exposure under difficult artificial lighting. With the function activated, the D500 is able to recognise flicker introduced when shooting in fluorescent or mercury-vapour light sources, and during a continuous burst, only fire at peak brightness for stable exposures and colour casts.

Extended Telephoto Range

The 1.5x crop of full frame lenses gives telephoto lenses more reach without sacrificing image resolution. Get even closer to distant subjects with smaller lenses with the cameras 1.3x image area mode. In this mode, full frame lenses on the D500 gain effectively double their focal length – a 300mm FX lens shows a 600mm (35mm focal equivalent) angle of view.

Professional Workflow

With dual memory card slots, XQD and SD, the camera enables duplicate shooting for instant backup, or to overflow from one card to the next as each one is filled. The SD and XQD formats enable fast read and write speeds for reduced waiting time.

Intuitive Touchscreen Operation

Touchscreen operation provides excellent usability on the tiltable 3.2-inch 2359k-dot LCD screen. Use familiar gestures during playback for intuitive image navigation, zooming and focus check, or for quickly selecting focus points and setting white balance in live view camera and movie modes. Alongside touch AF, touch shutter operation is enabled in the stills live view mode.

Illuminating Buttons for Night Shooting

When shooting in low-light, camera button illumination enhances usability, helping you quickly change settings so you can make the most of dark situations.

Cinema Ready 4K Recording and Movie Functions

Capable of recording 4K UHD 3180 x 2160 30p/25p/24p or Full HD with maximum recording time exceeding 29 minutes and simultaneous output available via HDMI, the D500 is truly a multimedia ready camera. In movie mode, an electronic Vibration Reduction function can help minimise camera shake for a more stable picture, and smoother handheld recordings. An integrated time-lapse mode Generate 4K UHD time-lapse movies in-camera with ease.

Constant Smart Device Connection

Nikon’s new SnapBridge technology utilises a low power Bluetooth setting for an always-on constant connection between the D500 and a compatible smart device. Automatically transfer images to the device, embed geolocation and copyright information into your images, or use the device as a wireless remote. SnapBridge and integrated WiFi wireless connectivity enhances the experience of taking and sharing photos.

Rugged Body, Ready for Tough Assignments

Designed for professional use, the Nikon D500 is constructed with a robust magnesium alloy chassis with dust and moisture sealing. This powerful and versatile camera is ready for tackling your toughest assignments and makes the perfect companion on your next adventure.
