The 3 Legged Thing Billy is a 4-section tripod that’s built for versatility and portability. The lightweight carbon fibre construction and compact design makes it perfect for travel and everyday use while its generous 18kg load capacity can handle heavy DSLR setups with ease. It’s paired with an AirHed Neo ball head that has silky smooth movement and control over pan, tilt, and ball lock. Packed with features, the tripod includes a reversible centre column for ultra-low-level shooting mode, multiple mounting points and a detachable leg that can be used as a monopod.

18kg Maximum Load Capacity

Starting from the top, the 3 Legged Thing Billy is equipped with an AirHed Neo ball head that can support up to 18kg of gear, great for heavier DSLR rigs. The ball head is crafted from aircraft grade aluminium alloy for lightweight durability.

Flexible Quick Release System

Thanks to the quick release system, it’s easy to mount and release your camera giving you the flexibility to switch to handheld shooting. The quick release plate has a 1/4-inch camera screw and is compatible with both Arca-Swiss and Peak Design systems, making it easy to accessorise your setup. A safety knob prevents your camera from accidentally slipping out of the clamp when mounting.

Single Locking Knob

The AirHed has a single knob to control the smooth 90° tilt and 360° panning movements. A rubberised grip makes it easy to lock-in the perfect composition while well-defined markings on the head’s base make it easy to repeat shooting positions.

Bubble Levels and Tri-Mount Disc

Both the tripod and ball head feature bubble levels for easy camera alignment, ideal for angular subjects like architecture and landscape. The unique Tri-Mount plate fits between the head and tripod and features clip-on points for additional accessories like weights, straps, and more.

Reversible Centre Column

The centre column has a twist lock system for quick adjustment. Completely removable, it can also be inverted, offering you the versatility to shoot from an ultra-low angle. The D ring at the base of the column allows you to hang weights for added stability, perfect for heavier lenses.

Maximum Height of 165cm

The centre column also adds to already impressive maximum height of 135cm, extending the ball head up to 165cm. Each of the 4 section legs can be independently set at three different angles - 23°, 55°, or 80° allowing you to use the tripod from an incredibly low height of just 10cm off the ground. It folds down to an easy-to-pack 45cm with the head, making it a great travel companion as well.

Twist Locking Legs and Rubberised Feet

Rubberised twist-locks offer a good grip and ensure a quick and secure set-up. Rubber feet further enhance stability and traction and can be replaced with separately available spiked feet, making it easy to use whether you’re shooting on smooth surfaces or more rugged terrain.

Built-in Monopod

As with all 3LT tripods, Billy has a removable leg that can be combined with the centre column and ball head for use as a full-size monopod. The fully adjustable monopod is perfect for shooting fast action photography or to stabilise your videos. It can even be used as a microphone boom, camera boom arm or a selfie stick.
