The DJI Spreading Wings 1000+ with A2 Flight Controller and Zenmuse Z15-5D III (HD) Gimbal is an advanced octocopter designed to carry a DSLR or Mirrorless camera with a payload up to 11kg. It is an incredibly stable drone and provides smooth aerial movement with the included Zenmuse Gimbal. A2 Flight Control System with 2.4Ghz Receiver

The Octocopter has one of the most advanced flight controller systems on the market, the A2 which provides a new standard in flight. It seamlessly calculates the optimal speed for up to 8 rotors to ensure smooth flight performance and fine flight control. It combines a GPS-Compass Pro System for pin-point positioning accuracy and a 2.4Ghz Radio Receiver with a host of individual measurement units that collect flight data.

The IMU: Collects inertia measurement data and is the main source of information for the A2 it uses accelerometers and gyros to help maintain a stable flying condition.

The PMU: Power Management Unit that regulates power being sent to the controller and other systems, it can detect voltage and features an extendable CAN-bus port.

LED Bluetooth Indicator: The LED-BTU-I allows you to modify various flight control parameters using a computer or mobile device.

Intelligent Orientation Control

The difficulty with flying a multi-rotor drone that is symmetrical is identifying the front of the aircraft while controlling the flight. To make it easier for pilots it is possible to use the assistant software to activate intelligent orientation control (IOC) which defines all the movements of the drone relative to where the pilot’s perspective. So forward will always be the direction of that you are facing rather than where the drone is facing, this makes it significantly easier to pilot.

Included DJI Zenmuse Z15-5D III (HD) Gimbal

DJI’s Zen muse Gimbals are designed specifically for aerial creativity so you can capture stunning smooth shots with unmatched stability for your production. It is built specifically for the Canon 5D Mark III with the Canon EF 25mm f/2.8 IS USM lens and can keep the setup perfectly steady and controlled even when flying in less than ideal conditions.

3-Axis Rotation Control

Designed with an intuitive control system in mind the gimbal can be controlled directly from the transmitter stick. The gimbal features a tail potentiometer to provide greater stability and control and the power and signal cables are integrated in such a way to allow 360° panning, +15°/-120° of tilt and +/- 25° of roll.

HDMI-AV/HD Module for Video Downlink Systems

The DJI Zenmuse gimbal can be combined with a Lightbridge or iOSD Mark II with 5.8G downlink system to provide real-time HD video to assist the controlling of the octocopter. You can take advantage of first person view (FPV) flying with the output from the HDMI-AV/HD Module as well.

Exact Precision Control

The Zenmuse gimbal delivers precision camera control by using DJI’s custom designed Gimbal Servo Drive Module which is tailored specifically to the weight and balance of the Canon 5D Mark III. This specific design improves stability and increases control while at the same time maximises torque and vibration control.

Zenmuse Operation Modes

The gimbal features three different operation modes and can be controlled by a dedicated stick on your transmitter or hand held radio controller. One of the modes is optimised for first person view flying and the other two are designed for aerial photo and video shooting.

360° Photo Mode

The Gimbal includes a 360° Panoramic Photograph function that rotates the gimbal to capture 37 photos for the perfect panorama shot.

8 High Performance Folding Propellers

Utilising 8 propellers rather than the standard 4 found in quadcopters the drone is able to provide precision flight control. The foldable 1552 propellers can be tucked away and are constructed from high strength performance engineered plastic. The 1000+ is more stable than traditional drones even when hovering in heavy winds and the drone can deliver incredible bursts of speed with ease.

Motor Fail Protection

As well as increased performance the Spreading Wings 1000+ boasts a motor fail protection feature which ensures the drone be navigated home even if a motor fails during flight.

Foldable Propeller Arms

The propeller arms can be folded down to make the octocopter easier to transport and the construction out of carbon fibre makes them robust and strong. When you want to take-off the arms can be extended and easily clipped into place so you can be ready to fly in around 5 minutes.

Brushless Motors

The propellers are powered by 4114 professional brushless motors with 40A electronic speed controllers that when combined with the A2 controlled, V-type mixer provide a maximum thrust of 2.5kg each. This gives the octocopter enough power to lift a heavy weight but also allows for finer adjustments.

Inclined Propeller Angle

Each propeller arm features an innovative new design that angles the blades with an inversion of 8° with a 3° inclination making the aircraft more stable when rolling and pitching and even more flexible when rotating.

Heavy Payload Support

The Spreading Wings 1000+ is able to support a maximum take-off weight of between 6 and 11kg depending on the installed components. This means it is more than capable of carrying high end DSLR’s and Mirrorless Systems.

15-minutes Flight Time

With a 6S lithium-polymer 15,000mAh battery (not included) and a 9.5kg payload the octocopter can fly for approximately 15 minutes, before needing to be recharged or it’s battery exchanged.

Retractable Landing Gear and Low Gimbal Position

Featuring sturdy carbon fibre landing gear that can be lifted up and out of the way once in the air, the drone also has a low gimbal mounting position. That means your camera can be attached low ensuring the maximum range of vision with 360° of un-interrupted views.

Intelligent Landing Gear

The A2 flight control system enables an intelligent landing gear function that activates if a crash is imminent to best protect the equipped gear.

Built in Processing Unit

The Zenmuse features its own in-built Inertia Measurement Unit Module and an Infrared Module. When combined with DJI’s new stabilisation algorithm that keeps the drone and attached camera’s movements smooth and controlled.

Frame Vibration Insulation

The S1000+’s gimbal bracket is insulated from the main frame with specifically designed dampers, this can help remove high-frequency vibrations so you can get capture even sharper shots.

Improved Power Distribution

Upgrading from the 1000 model you can enjoy a much simpler power distribution layout with gold plated metal bearings and a special cable design to ensure connectivity during flight. The main power cable also uses an AS150 spark proof plug to prevent short circuits.

Removable Centre Board

To make it easier to customise the drone the centre board is completely removable so that the flight control system can be swapped out, you can install a Lightbridge Air unit or a range of other electronic components.

This makes the DJI Spreading Wings 1000 Plus with A2 flight controller and Zenmuse Z15-5D III (HD) Gimbal a completely modular bind and fly system, it can be custom set up and its individual parameters tweaked to the finest degree to make sure it delivers the aerial performance you need.
