Mirror lenses are recognised for their distinctive donut-shaped bokeh, created by the way out-of-focus light sources are rendered. Some mirror lenses produce incomplete donut-shaped bokeh that appears as a C-shape. The Tokina SZ 300mmPRO Reflex F7.1 MF CF has been designed to reduce vignetting, helping to achieve beautifully complete bokeh rings.

In addition to long-distance shooting, the Tokina SZ 300mmPRO Reflex F7.1 MF CF also performs well in macro photography. Standard telephoto lenses generally do not support macro use, but this lens offers a maximum magnification of 1:2.5 (0.4x), making it suitable for close-up work as well.
