Its AF system is designed for outstanding tracking, with the ability to detect and follow a wide range of subjects. Alongside 8K recording, the Z8 also supports 4K60p video and record times of up to 125 minutes, with dual memory card slots for efficient file management. Advanced video capabilities

The Nikon Z8 includes a wide range of video-focused features for enthusiasts and professionals alike, with in-camera 10-bit and 12-bit recording. Supported formats include N-RAW, which delivers 12-bit RAW quality in a file size that is half the size, 12-Bit ProRes RAW HQ, ProRes 422 HQ and H.265. The camera produces superb 4K footage downsampled from 8K for outstanding sharpness and clarity, while audio quality is also impressive thanks to 24-bit/48 kHz recording. Hi-Res Zoom is available in both Full HD and 4K UHD recording, allowing you to zoom in 2x closer to your subject at the press of a button while using a Nikon prime lens.

Rugged, powerful and portable

Despite its advanced feature set, the Nikon Z8 remains compact and lightweight. It is built for reliability in challenging conditions, with dust and drip resistance and performance rated for low temperatures. The body uses premium materials, including the new lightweight Sereebo P material. Sensor protection is also enhanced, with an optical filter using the same double-coating process as the Z9, helping to repel dust and making it easier to clean. Lens changes are safer and simpler thanks to the built-in sensor shield, while the VR lock mechanism activates when the camera is powered off to help protect it from shocks and jolts.

Frame your images your way

The Nikon Z8 offers versatile composition options to suit a wide range of shooting styles. Its large LCD screen features 4-axis vertical and horizontal tilting, giving you more flexibility when framing from above, below or beside the camera. If you prefer a traditional eye-level view, the high-quality real-live viewfinder with a 120fps refresh rate delivers smooth viewing, even with fast-moving subjects. The compact, well-balanced body is comfortable to hold, while handheld shooting is supported by built-in VR stabilisation and VR Synchro, which combines in-body stabilisation with the VR of select Nikon lenses for up to 6 stops of shake reduction.

Pre-Release Capture

With Pre-Release Capture, the Nikon Z8 helps you capture decisive moments even before you are fully ready. By half-pressing the shutter button, the camera begins buffering images. When you press the shutter, you can record images from up to 1 second before and 4 seconds after you finish shooting, making it easier to capture the best possible moment in fast-paced action.

Power on the move

The Nikon Z8 runs on the long-life Nikon EN-EL15C lithium battery, and shooting time can be extended with the MB-N12 power battery pack. Like the camera body, it is dust and drip-resistant and provides up to 1.8x additional shooting power. For added convenience, the camera can also be charged while shooting using a mobile battery, thanks to dual USB ports for data and charging.
