Advanced video performance

The Nikon Z8 includes an extensive set of video features designed for enthusiasts and professional users alike, including in-camera 10-bit and 12-bit recording. Supported formats include the new N-RAW file format, which delivers 12-bit RAW quality in a file size that is half as large, 12-Bit ProRes RAW HQ, ProRes 422 HQ and H.265. The camera can produce exceptional 4K footage downsampled from 8K for outstanding sharpness and clarity, while 24-bit/48 kHz audio recording helps ensure excellent sound quality. Hi-Res zoom is available in both Full HD and 4K UHD recording, allowing you to zoom in 2x closer to your subject at the press of a button when using a Nikon prime lens.

Rugged, powerful and portable

Despite its advanced feature set, the Nikon Z8 remains compact and lightweight. It is also built for demanding conditions, with dust- and drip-resistant construction and low-temperature resistance. The body incorporates premium materials, including the new lightweight Sereebo P material. The sensor is equally well protected, with an optical filter using the same dual-coating process as the Z9, helping repel dust and making it easier to clean. Lens changes are safer and easier thanks to the built-in sensor shield, while the VR lock mechanism activates when the camera is switched off to help protect it from shocks and jolts.

Compose your shots your way

The Nikon Z8 offers excellent flexibility for framing your subjects. Its large LCD screen features 4-axis vertical and horizontal tilting, giving you more freedom when shooting from high or low angles. Prefer a traditional eye-level view? The high-quality real-live viewfinder supports a 120fps refresh rate for smoother viewing of fast-moving subjects. The compact, well-balanced body feels great in hand, and handheld shooting is enhanced by built-in VR stabilisation. VR Synchro can also combine this in-body stabilisation with the VR of select Nikon lenses for up to 6 stops of shake reduction.

Pre-Release Capture

The Nikon Z8 helps you capture decisive moments even before you are fully ready. With Pre-Release Capture, half-press the shutter button to start buffering images. When the action begins and you press the shutter, the camera can save images from up to 1 second before and 4 seconds after you finish shooting, making it easier to capture the best possible moment.

Power for shooting on the move

The Nikon Z8 uses the long-life Nikon EN-EL15C lithium battery, and shooting time can be extended with the MB-N12 power battery back, which is dust- and drip-resistant like the camera and provides up to 1.8x extra shooting power. For added convenience, the camera can also be charged while in use with a mobile battery, thanks to its dual USB ports: one for data and one for charging.
