It features Clear Image Zoom technology which lets you get even closer, up to 1440mm, while still maintaining high resolution image quality. This versatile focal range makes the HX99 a great travel companion or every day snapshot camera.
18 Megapixel Exmor R CMOS Sensor
The camera’s 18.2MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor is complemented by a high-speed Bionz X image processor. Together, they provide excellent image quality that retains a lot of detail, even with fine textures and dimly lit scenes.
4K Video with Full Pixel Readout
New to the HX CyberShot camera series is 4K video recording, now featured in the HX99. The high-quality footage is captured with a full sensor pixel readout that collects 1.6x more information than required, resulting in crisp, clear footage with amazing resolution.
HD Recording with Slow Motion Capabilities
Just like the former HX cameras, you can also choose record video in HD at up to 100fps. Capture fast moving subjects and ramp the speed way down for dramatic looking slow motion footage.
Optical SteadyShot Image Stabilisation
To make life much easier, Sony’s added their SteadyShot image stabilisation to the HX 99. Using the internal gyro-sensor and specialised algorithm, the system reduces vibrations or camera shake caused by movement or handheld shooting for sharper, clearer photos and video.
Intelligent Autofocus and Eye AF Function
An Intelligent AF system driven by contrast-detection autofocus delivers super-fast, responsive autofocusing capabilities. Lock-On AF helps you track moving subjects, adjusting the targeting frame to match the size of your subject. Eye AF automatically detects and tracks the eyes of your subject, resulting in sharp detailed portraits that are always in focus.
Impressive 10fps Continuous Shooting
The camera has a continuous shooting mode that can capture up to 10 frames per second, perfect for capturing subjects in motion. This allows you to shoot a sequence of photos and select your favourite frame. If the lighting changes while taking a burst shot, the camera automatically adjusts the exposure so each frame looks the same.
Manual Control Ring
For more advanced shooters, the HX99 features a lens mounted control ring that lets you select and adjust things like focus, shutter speed, aperture, and more. This offers a more intuitive way of shooting and gives you complete control over the look and feel of your composition.
3-Inch Tilting Touchscreen

Pop-Up OLED Viewfinder
Hidden on top of the camera is a handy pop-up OLED Tru-Finder that shows a much brighter image than standard electronic viewfinders. It shows your scene and shooting information in real-time, so you can freely compose your shot with excellent precision.
