The Sony A99 Mark II is Sony’s flagship A-mount camera, it boasts high-end features with a full-frame 42.4MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 5-axis in-body stabilisation, as well as introducing 4K video shooting to the A-mount series. Designed specifically for high speed performance the newly developed Hybrid Phase AF system is capable of AF/AE tracking up to 12fps. The camera uses a dedicated AF sensor with 79 points as well as 399 points on the sensor to deliver pin sharp focus so you can handle the most challenging assignments with confidence.

42 Megapixel Full Frame Back-Illuminated Sensor

Equipped with a 42.4 Megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor with back-illumination technology, the Sony A99 II captures spectacular high-resolution images with a wide dynamic range. The sensor has no optical low-pass filter enabling it to capture incredibly sharp results with unprecedented detail. The combination of gapless on-chip design with a copper wiring layer results in fast readout speeds as well as significantly enhanced low light performance.

New 5-Axis Steady Shot Stabilisation

A 5-axis image stabilisation system works in all 5 axes (X, Y, pitch, yaw and camera roll) to effectively minimise camera shake. A huge benefit of the body-integrated system is that it produces better results even when combined with a non-stabilised lens The highly responsive SteadyShot produces crisp, shake-free results in both stills and movies and provides a massive 4.5 steps of stabilisation.

Bionz X Processing Engine

The A99 MkII features a Bionz X image processor with a new front end LSI able to take advantage of the sensors read out speed by processing full resolution image data at a very high speed. This enables an impressive continuous shooting speed of 12fps with Auto Focus and Auto Exposure as well as allowing the camera to shoot 16-bit images that are processed in camera to a 14-bit RAW format.

Low Light Capable

Using a massive full-frame sensor that uses a back-illumination design ensures that as much light as possible can be captured by the camera and allows it to focusin as dark as EV-4 brightness levels. With an ISO range of 100-25600, the new processing engine also further expands the ISO range to 50-102400, and the 4.5 steps of stabilisation mean you can hand hold shots at much longer shutter speeds perfect for those low-light night time shots.

Hybrid Phase Detection Autofocus with 399 AF Points

The autofocus system of the Alpha 99 II incorporates 2 phase detection sensors, one built directly into the image sensor with 399-points optimised for vertical tracking as well as a dedicated 79-point AF sensor which when combined together provide 399-points with 79 Hybrid Cross autofocus points. This unique AF system ensures high speed and unmatched accuracy making the camera perfectly suited for quickly moving subjects and helping to you capture those fleeting moments.

UHD 4K Video Recording

The camera is capable of recording 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) videos at 30 or 24 fps in XAVC S format using a full sensor readout with no pixel binning while also supporting a Super 35mm mode, with 1.8x over sampling. This technology enables the camera to capture video with a much greater resolution at a bit rate of 100 Mbps.

Quick and Slow Mode

Slow-Mo high definition video is also possible with the camera able to shoot with a frame rate up to 120 fps, useful for capturing super-fast action and slowing it down to a crawl. The camera allows you to switch between 1 and 120fps at the push of a button making it easy than ever to shoot time-lapses and slow motion shots, granting you unrivalled creative control.

Advanced Professional Video Features

The Alpha 99 MkII camera is able to output uncompressed HDMI output of 4Kvideo at 4:2:2 for use with an external recorder, to give you greater flexibility when colour grading your footage. The camera also offers a range of colour profiles with S-Log2 and S-Log3 that is able to capture an impressive 14-stops of dynamic range. The A99 II also supports the use of S-Gamut, S-Gamut3, as well as S-Gamut3.Cine colour spaces.

Bright Multi-Angle LCD Display

The 3-inch 1.22 Million-dot LCD display can be tilted upward 134° and downward 180°. It can also be rotated 180° clockwise and 90° counter clockwise allowing you to shoot from virtually any angle while using the camera in live view mode. The LCD has enhanced brightnessso you can easily preview your compositions even in sunny conditions.

2.36Million-Dot OLED EVF

It’s easy to choose your shot using the high-resolution, 100% coverage electronic viewfinder. With its2.36M pixel screen, wide angle 0.78x magnification ratio, and4-lens optical system with Zeiss T* coating the EVFprovides a clean sharp view of your composition. The XGA OLED display reproduces colour tones with a high degree of accuracy, so you canprecisely judge anyexposure adjustments.

Dual Memory Card Slots

To help with file management and security the camera has dual SD card slots, allowing you to create an instantaneous backup of your images as you shoot them. Alternatively, you can designate one card for videos and the other for still images or use one to record RAW images and other to record Jpeg files only. This versatile file management system helps you streamline your workflow and improve image security.

Robust & Weather Sealed Construction

Thanks to a magnesium alloy construction, the Sony A99 mark II is robust and capable of withstanding tough shooting environments.A comprehensiveseal around the major buttons and dials ensurethat you can keep working with consistency and confidence even in harsh weather conditions.

Improved Design

The new model is 8% smaller than the original A99 and it features an upgraded hand grip, making it easier and more comfortable to hold. In addition to the improved exterior the A99 Mark ii has a new shutter unit that has been rated, with an electronic first curtain, in excess of 300,000 operations, as well as being designed for a faster response.

Wireless Connectivity

The A99 Mark II comes loaded with wireless connectivity options. The built in Wi-Fi lets you control the camera from a smart mobile device while watching a live view. There is no need to remember passwords when you are connecting to your mobile device, thanks to the NFC (Near Field Communications) capability. Once connected, the camera can also receive location information from your phone over Bluetooth embedding it into image metadata so you can geotag you pictures.

The Sony Alpha 99 Mark II is a powerful new addition to the A-Mount series of cameras, it’s high resolution image sensor, 4K video capabilities, and 5-axis in-body stabilisation function prove that this camera is designed for performance. With a lightning quick 399-point AF system and super slow motion video options it makes impressive use of its new BSI sensor and Bionz X processor to deliver 12fps shooting speeds and features that make it perfect for the more demanding professional.
