The Sony A9 II is a finely tuned imaging tool that is the result of extensive feedback session with working professionals. It has a refined body design with superior dust and moisture resistance, an improved image processor as well as faster FTP and 5Ghz Wi-Fi connectivity. The improved processing enables a new anti-flicker mode for shooting in fluorescent and other artificial light and unlocks incredibly accurate real-time tracking, eye-AF and animal eye-AF in stills and video.

Capture 20fps in Complete Silence

The A9 series redefines silent shooting with an electronic shutter that can capture 20 fps in complete silence with shutter speeds as fast as 1/32000^th of a second to control exposure in bright conditions without needing ND filters. Unlike traditional silent modes that can suffer from rolling shutter, the stacked sensor produces tac-sharp image without distortion, making it perfect for situations where absolute silence is critical.

Blackout-free Shooting

The blackout-free shooting mode simple has to be seen to be believed. It enhances the shooting experience allows shooters to track their subject with incredible pinpoint accuracy. The screen can display a box that indicates when the shot is captured so you can be confident that you’ve got the shot.

Improved Mechanical Shutter Assembly

The shooting speed of the A9 Mark II shooting with the mechanical shutter has been doubled from the original A9 to an impressive 10 fps and delivers sharper results thanks to a re-engineered design that uses dampened screws to reduce shutter shock and noise.

5.5 Stops of In-Body Image Stabilisation

To further reduce blur and capture better looking handheld footage, the A9 II has a 5.5-stop in-body stabilisation system that produces steady results even if the attached lens isn’t stabilised. The stabilisation algorithm has been enhanced to ensure the best results possible and it improves the system in the original A9.

Refined Handling and Controls

Sony redesigned the control layout and ergonomics of the A9 Mark 2 with a deeper grip shaped to reduce fatigue thanks to feedback from pro-shooters. The new joystick and AF button have been repositioned for maximum comfort and usability, while the exposure compensation dial now comes with a lock function. The A9 II is also compatible with a grip for improved vertical shooting and battery life.

Enhanced Connectivity for Faster Workflow

In the fast-paced world of modern media speed is everything, which is why the A9M2 delivers a blazingly fast FTP connectivity with a LAN terminal with Ethernet 1000BASE-T support, as well as 5GHz & 2.4GHz Wireless connection for wireless FTP transfer. The camera has support for up to 9 FTP servers and can transfer files in the background, while shooting.

Voice Memo with Auto Transcription Function

Designed to improve communication between shooter and editor, the A9 II has a voice memo feature that allows an audio recording up to 60 seconds long to be attached to an image. There is also the option to automatically transcribe the memo into text using Sony’s transfer and Tagging add-on app so it can be attached to the metadata of the image.

The camera has an impressive 693 autofocus points covering 93% of the sensor so you can be confident that no matter where your subject moves the camera can track them. The 4D FOCUS system uses sophisticated AI algorithms to analyse the direction and speed of your subject to predict where the focus should be.

High-Resolution EVF & 3-inch LCD

Boasting a 3.68-million dot resolution, the A9 II offers shooters the choice of a 60fps or ultra-fast 120fps refresh rate that makes it easier to follow fast moving subjects. The rear LCD is touch-sensitive, has a 1.44-million dot resolution and a tilts up approximately 107° and down 14° encourages shooting from unique perspectives.
