The Pentax K1 features a 36.4 megapixel Full Frame CMOS Sensor to cater to professionals and serious enthusiasts. Additionally, the AA (Anti-Aliasing) Filter has been removed from the light path to deliver maximum sharpness and detail. The effect of AA filter can be simulated with the intelligent functioning of the Sensor Shift Technology which removes the moire and delivers suitable images.
Shake Reduction Technology SRII
The 5 axis Shake Reduction (SR II) technology employed by Pentax helps the K1 minimise the effects of camera shake by compensating with a physical shift in the CMOS sensor position while shooting. The sensor based operation is effective in stabilizing images from both stabilised and non-stabilised lenses, delivering maximum detail and clarity across a broader range of lenses.
Prime IV Image Processor
The prime IV image processing engine can capture images at the frame rate of up to 4.4 in full resolution and 6.5 frames per second in crop mode. The advanced image processor helps you capture low light scenes better, delivering a clearer image in difficult lighting scenarios. The Prime IV processor is also equipped with an advanced scene analysis system ensuring the Pentax K1 delivers faithful colours across a diverse range of indoor and outdoor shooting situations.
SAFOX 12 AF System
Its SAFOX 12 AF system is capable in focusing, even at -3 EV brightness. There are 33 focusing points available to choose from, 25 of which are cross-type focusing points. Three of the 25 cross-type points are strategically positioned around the centre of the frame and are designed to focus more quickly and accurately when using large aperture lenses.
Full HD Videos
The K1 features Full HD recording at 60i, 50i, 30p and 25p to give you a variety of framerates specific to your needs. HD recording can also utilise framerates at 60p or 50p for maximum smoothness in fast motion sequences.
Built-in Stereo Microphone & 3.5mm External Input
A built-in stereo microphone delivers a natural soundscape for general use, alternatively a 3.5mm input is also available for shotgun or other professional or scenario specific audio recording requirements. A headphone jack is equipped to allow you to more accurately monitor the sound and maintain right audio levels during the recording process.
Weather Sealed Camera Body
The body of Pentax K1is made of magnesium alloy which delivers the toughness required to withstand the rigorous daily abuse of a professional photographer. A total of 87 seals ensure the camera is weather resistant and dust proof, providing outdoor photographers with the confidence to continue shooting even when the weather takes a turn.
Dual SD Card Slot
The professional standard dual SD card slots help manage the demanding full-frame output of the camera. Both slots can be configured to store RAW and JPEG file formats on separate cards or automatically switch to the second card when the first card is full. The second slot can also be configured as a mirror of the first, allowing an instant backup for maximum redundancy and protection against card corruption.
3rd Command Dial
To make it easy to get the shot you need, a third command dial on the top of the camera eliminates the necessity to dive into menus to configure shooting settings. The additional dial gives you direct control over commonly used settings such as ISO, Bracketing, Full or Crop frame selection, Continuous Shooting, Wi-Fi, Shake Reduction and HDR related functionality.
Flexible Tilt-type 3.2" LCD
The 3.2" LCD monitor features a 1037K pixel resolution. Its innovative Cross-Tilt design is ideal for aiming in almost any direction that delivers remarkable flexibility when composing using live view. The LCD system can be tilted up or down to 90 degrees, horizontally pulled to either sides and even moved in a diagonal making it easier to get perfect compositions in when shooting in low or high perspectives. Made from tempered glass, the screen is more resistant to scratches and delivers improved optical clarity when shooting or reviewing.
Operation Assist LED Lights
Multiple LED assist lights are placed on the back of the screen, near the card slots and above the lens mount to provide confidence when working in the dark. The lights help you see the camera controls, replacing memory cards and safely swapping your lens, improving camera usability when working in a dark studio or at night.
GPS, Electronic Compass and Astrotracer
The camera features an inbuilt GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and electronic compass allowing you to map and store your shooting location into the exif metadata on your image files. An Astrotracer function combines GPS, Electronic Compass and SR mechanism to help move the sensor in minute increments to freeze the motion of stars during extended exposures.
Instant sharing of your favourite images is easy thanks to the K1's built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. Used in conjunction with the image sync app the wireless capabilities also enable remote live view and camera control, allowing you to position the camera in hard-to-reach places and unique viewpoints.
All the Pentax DA and FA lenses can be used on the Pentax K1 full frame DSLR body without any accessory or modification. When DA lenses are equipped, the sensor automatically crops to the APS-C size image circle while the FA lenses benefit from the option of shooting in the full frame 35mm or APS-C crop mode for maximum versatility.
