Eliminated Anti-Alias Filter Design

The Pentax K-3 II suits enthusiasts and serious travel photographers. Its impressive feature set includes a built-in GPS module that delivers geotagging capabilities in-camera and a filter-free sensor configuration for high-resolution image results.

24.35 Megapixel CMOS Sensor

At the heart of the K3 II is a 24.35 megapixel APS-C size CMOS imaging sensor which delivers detail rich, high resolution images and Full HD movies with superb colour reproduction.

PRIME III Image Processor

The sensor is paired with Pentax’s proven PRIME III image engine, as found in the revered Pentax 645Z medium-format DSLR. The image processor maximises the effectiveness of the eliminated optical filter to provide crisp detail and fine-gradation across the entire colour range.

8.3 fps Burst Mode

Its ultra-fast processing equips you with a lightning fast maximum burst rate of 8.3 shots per second ensuring you’re ready to capture even the most fleeting moments.

Low-noise Shooting Results

The processor also delivers a broad ISO100 to ISO51200 range for excellent shooting versatility in a variety of lighting conditions. The impressive range ensures excellent low-noise results, even when lighting conditions are not ideal.

Sensor Shake Reduction Design

An improved SR (shake reduction) mechanism utilises a high-precision gyroscopic sensor which provides convenient in-camera image stabilisation for even greater sharpness, detail and low-light usability. Compatible with any1 Pentax interchangeable lens, the updated SR system provides an advantage of up to 4.5 stops for excellent shooting versatility and exposure control.

Pixel-Shift Super-Resolution Technology

The unique Pixel Shift Resolution System2 further improves image detail and size by combining four images to create a super-resolution composite image. The resulting shot features even greater detail, exceptional tonal range and ultra-low noise characteristics, perfect for heavy cropping or large format printing.

This adjustable image sensor design also enables a variety of handy shooting tools such as an auto level feature and an astro tracer function for advanced astronomical photography.

Lightning Fast AF

An 86,000 pixel RGB sensor is combined with Pentax’s Real-Time Scene Analysis System to provide fast, consistent, accurate exposure and white balance. The system works with the SAFOX 11 autofocus sensor and it’s 25 cross-type focus points to quickly and accurately obtain razor sharp focus, even in dim lighting conditions. This powerful combination also improves AF tracking performance and continuous autofocus, greatly improving clarity when shooting fast moving objects such as cars, sports action, wildlife and more.

Built-in GPS

The built-in GPS module provides a comprehensive list of geographical information including location, latitude, longitude, altitude and bearing, allowing you to map position data of each individual photo. The GPS also can track your movement through a city, or mountain hike, allowing you to easily re-trace your steps by plotting key points on a map. An electronic compass is also built-in for more accurate navigation.

Large 3.2-inch 1037k-dot LCD Screen

The rear of the camera houses a large 3.2-inch 1037k-dot LCD screen with a protective tempered-glass front panel for maximum optical transmission. A unique air-gapless design further improves clarity by reducing the reflection and dispersion of light, delivering improved visibility even when shooting in direct sunlight.

Dual SD Card Slots

Dual SD card slots deliver professional level functionality and shooting versatility, allowing you to save to both cards simultaneously for an instant backup, or save RAW files to one card and JPG copies to another card. Copying images from slot to slots is also possible, ensuring maximum file management versatility.

Weather Proof Chassis

With an internal chassis made from a strong yet lightweight magnesium alloy, the weather-proof Pentax K-3 II features 92 internal seals to protect it from dust, water and freezing temperatures as low as -10°C.

1Lenses compatible with this mechanism: K-, KA-, KAF-, KAF2- and KAF3-mount lenses, screw mount lenses (with an adapter) and 645 - and 67-system lenses (with an adapter). Some functions are not available with certain lenses.

2When using this system, the user is advised to stabilize the camera firmly on a tripod. When a moving subject is captured in the camera’s image field, its image may not be reproduced clearly, either in part or as a whole.
