The Panasonic Lumix GX8 packs a range of innovative features into a compact, interchangeable lens camera body. Its mirrorless design features a high resolution 20.3 megapixel sensor and 4K photo and video recording to deliver highly detailed still and moving images.

20.3 Megapixel Live MOS Sensor

A technological leap forward, the cutting-edge 20.3 megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor of the DMC-GX8 delivers the best image quality yet in the history of Lumix G digital cameras. Its impressive dynamic range is complemented with a maximum ISO25600 to delivers low noise results in even the most difficult lighting conditions.

Dual IS Image Stabilisation

Image quality is further bolstered by the integration of Dual IS Image Stabilisation. Another innovative step for Lumix cameras, the GX8 integrates in-body IS technology to reduce camera shake and ensure razor-sharp results, even at slow shutter speeds. Additionally, the 4-axis in-camera stabilisation can be combined with the 2-axis OIS image stabilisation found on many Lumix G lenses to deliver an unparalleled stability and creative versatility.1

Updated Venus Engine Image Processor

An updated Venus Engine image processor pushes the boundaries of performance utilising multi-process noise reduction and three dimensional colour control to produce detail rich results with true-to-life colour representation.

Built-in RAW Format Processing

Capable of producing DSLR image quality, the GX8 also supports RAW-format shooting for superior image information and flexibility during post-processing. The built-in RAW-file processing enables you to adjust settings such as white balance, exposure compensation, photo style, saturation, noise reduction, sharpness and more while retaining maximum image quality.

4K Video + 4K Photo

The Venus Engine processor is also responsible for delivering QFHD 4K 100Mbit/s quality video, 10fps full-resolution burst mode shooting and cutting edge 4K photo capability.

QFHD Video Recording

Offering four times as much detail as a Full HD recording the 4K capabilities of the GX8 ensure more pleasurable viewing with crisper detail and clarity. Even when viewing recorded videos on a Full HD TV, the results are substantially sharper and more vivid.

30FPS Burst Mode

With its 4K Photo mode, the GX8 ensures you’re equipped to capture the perfect moment. Its three different 4K shooting modes utilise a fast 30fps burst mode to help freeze fast-action and fleeting moments. The sequence of shots can be reviewed on a timeline and an 8 megapixel still image can be extracted and saved separately.
Three 4K photo modes are available to cater for your subject and to personal shooting preferences.

4K Burst Mode Shooting

The 4K Burst mode is an evolution of standard burst modes. Press the shutter a split second before the action, hold it down during the action and release when the action is over. The main difference with the 4K Burst shooting is that it can keep shooting for a maximum 29 minutes and 59 seconds, allowing you to capture extended periods of fast movement with ease.

4K Burst Start/Stop Mode

A 4K Burst (Start/Stop) is functionally identical to 4K Burst shooting, except instead of holding down the shutter, you press the shutter once to start and then press again to stop, just like recording video. This mode is ideal for extended periods of recording, allowing you to concentrate on your framing.

4K Pre-Burst Mode

Lastly, the 4K Pre-Burst mode is great for unpredictable action. It sets the camera to continuously hold 30 frames in its cache one second before you press the shutter, compensating for your reaction time. Once the shutter is pressed, it takes another 30 frames, leaving you with an efficient 60 frames, saving space on your SD card and ensuring you capture the action, even when you think you’ve missed a great shot.

Post Focus Function

A revolutionary Post Focus option (may require firmware update) allows photographers to capture a scene and decide the focal point later. The Post Focus combines the camera's existing Depth from Defocus autofocusing and movie capabilities to record roughly one second of MP4 video at 30 frames per second. During this recording, the camera's autofocusing system scans the lens around the subject, moving from the foreground to the background to cover the entire scene. In playback mode the focal point can then be selected by simply touching the point that you want to appear sharp. The camera automatically selects the optimum frame and gives you the option to export it as a 8 megapixel JPEG image.

WiFi & NFC Wireless Connectivity

Built-in WiFi with NFC Communication enables fast, stress-free connection with your compatible smartphone or tablet. Utilising the free Panasonic Image App enables instant sharing to your friends, family and favourite social networks. The app also delivers wireless camera control and transforms your smart device into remote viewfinder and remote control, allowing you to shoot from a distance.

High Resolution Tilt-able EVF

Image composition and playback is a pleasure thanks to its tilt-adjustable Electronic view Finder (EVF) and 3-inch flip-out touchscreen monitor. The 2630k-dot resolution EVF utilises OLED technology which features a 10,000:1 contrast ratio and a high 0.77 x magnification to provide rich, accurate colours and pixel perfect framing.

3-inch Free-Angle LCD Touch Screen

The 3-inch free-angle LCD Screen at the rear provides comfortable, accurate framing when shooting from extreme low or high angles. Its swivel design also equips you with the ability to take perfect self-portraits and group photos. The touch screen interface provides an intuitive shooting and menu navigation experience. Its touch-to-focus and touch-to-shoot functionality works quickly and accurately, providing a more casual photography experience.

Magnesium Alloy Construction

Its compact, flat body design is combined with an ergonomic grip and comfortably placed camera controls. The magnesium alloy exterior is splash proof and dustproof to meet the considerable demands of seasoned photography professionals.

External Accessory Support

With a plethora of additional features and improvements such as faster autofocus, a hot shoe, a microphone input for external audio recording and more, the Panasonic Lumix GX8 is suitably qualified to become a worthy successor to the iconic GX7.
