The Nikon D7500 packs a massive amount of cutting edge image technology into an agile, lightweight and weather-sealed body. The camera uses a high-end 20.9-megapixel CMOS image sensor and the impressive EXPEED 5 image processor to deliver class-leading image quality with 51 AF points for refined autofocus performance. Introducing 4K video recording to the series the D7500 also provides touch to focus video control, zebra highlights, and 8-bit 4:2:2 HDMI output. With this comprehensive mix of photo and video features the D7500 can unlock your creativity, taking your photography and videography to the next level.

20.9 Megapixel CMOS Sensor

The APS-C sized sensor that is at the heart of the D7500 boasts 20.9 megapixels and is designed without a low pass filter to ensure optimal sharpness is achieved for both images and video footage. The DX flagship the D500 uses the same CMOS sensor because it delivers a finely tuned balance between resolution and low-noise performance.

High-End EXPEED 5 Image Processor

To deliver blazingly fast shooting speeds of 8 frames a second and enable 4K video at 30fps the camera makes use of Nikon’s impressive EXPEED 5 processor, which allows the data from the sensor to be read at lighting fast speeds and powers a wide range of the camera innovative functions.

Low Light Performance

The EXPEED 5 processor handles noise reduction to produce excellent results even at the high end of the camera’s diverse 100-51200 ISO range, perfect for when you find yourself shooting in less than ideal lighting conditions. The camera’s advanced autofocus system can focus in conditions as dark as -3EV so you can be confident the camera will perform well in any lighting scenario.

4K UHD and Full HD Video

The D7500 captures 4K UHD video at 30 fps with 4 times the resolution of Full HD footage, capturing breath-taking detail and unlocking advanced editing techniques. The camera also shoots Full HD video footage and can record in either MP4 or MOV format. In Full HD, the camera can use electronic vibration reduction to reduce camera shake and vibrations by slightly reducing the angle of view, helping you capture smooth video shots. There is even the option to output 8-bit 4K footage at 4:2:2 to an external recorder, and the camera can still record internally at the same time.

Freeze the Action

With an impressive maximum burst rate the camera can take 8 shots in a second, ideal for subtle moments during fast paced action, a fast-continuous shooting capability can make the difference between capturing a good shot and a great shot. The EXPEED 5 image processor also delivers a generous buffer for the D7500 with continuous shooting for approximately 50 frames in 14-bit lossless RAW or 100 fames in JPEG giving you even more change of catching that fleeting moment.

Advanced 51-Point Autofocus System

The cameras Multi-CAM 3500 II AF sensor module uses 51 focus points, 15 of which are cross-type points with improved detection abilities, to deliver accurate and responsive subject tracking. The new group area AF mode uses 5 autofocus points like a net to maintain focus on fast, and unpredictable moving subjects ensuring excellent autofocus performance even in low-contrast conditions.

180k Pixel Metering Sensor Improves Exposure

Nikon’s Advanced Scene Recognition is powered with a 180K-pixel RGB sensor, improving AF subject tracking, facial detection, auto-exposure and white balance. Users can select between 2 auto white balance modes to suit the purpose of the image with colours rendered faithfully white, balanced between ambient and original colour, or with a natural warmth.

Highlight-Weighted Metering

The D7500 introduces Nikon’s highlight-weighted metering mode that helps avoid over-exposed highlights that can ruin images. By using the pixel metering sensor the camera can identify the brightest parts of your composition and adjust the exposure accordingly making sure you capture the best range of detail possible.

Dramatic 4K Time-lapse and Interval Timer

Capture high speed sequences with the built-in time-lapse feature in both 4K for 3 minutes and Full HD, the camera also has a built-in interval timer that can capture up to 9,999 shots RAW images. The camera uses an exposure smoothing function to reduces flicker in both time-lapse and interval timer modes for incredibly smooth time-lapse footage.

Flicker Reduction Mode for Difficult Artificial Light

A flicker reduction function for still images ensures uniformity in white balance and exposure under difficult artificial lighting. With the function activated, the D7500 can recognise flicker introduced when shooting in fluorescent or mercury-vapour light sources, and during a continuous burst, only fire at peak brightness for stable exposures and colour casts.

Next Level Video Functionality

Videographers can take advantage of significant improvements with the Nikon D7500, aperture settings can be changed during live view and zebra guides can be displayed for better exposure control. The option to shoot video with a flat picture control ensures better flexibility when colour grading footage, and you can use Nikon’s Active D-Lighting system when filming Full HD video. This allows you to capture a balanced exposure in high contrast situations capturing more detail in the shadows and highlights of your scene.

3.1-Inch Touch Screen with Tilt Function

Designed to unlock new creative shooting techniques the camera has a large 3.1-inch touch sensitive LCD monitor that can be angled for extreme low or high angle shooting, perfect for macro-shooters, astro-photographers, and videographers to explore new exciting perspectives. The touch function allows video shooters to easily adjust focus while filming and the addition of a frame advance bar in the playback mode makes reviewing your shots easier than ever before.

Improved Movie Menu

The digital interface of the series has been updated, with the D7500 now sporting a dedicated movie shooting menu that can be accessed with a quick press of the info button while in live view mode. This menu allows you to independently change a range of settings like white balance, and picture control without affecting your photo mode settings.

Robust All-Weather Construction

Specifically constructed to be hardy without compromising on portability, the camera is made from high-stiffness carbon fibre and reinforced with thermoplastic, the shutter mechanism has been tested for 150,000 cycles and the camera features an improved deeper grip. Although clearly a sophisticated piece of kit the D7500 manages to weigh in at around 720g, this combined with the cameras extensive weather sealing, make it the perfect travel and landscape camera.
