The Garmin VIRB XE is designed for extreme sports, not only does it capture sharp video up to a resolution of 1440p and 12 Megapixel images but it also has on-board sensors that record performance data like Speed, Altitude, G-Force and more. That means you can record your altitude as you throw yourself out of a plane, your top speed as you hurtle down a black ski run, or your heart rate while cage diving with great white sharks.
Image Quality and Fast Frame Rate
The VIRB XE boasts a 12-megapixel image sensor that is able to capture 30 sharp images a second, as well at a video resolution that is even greater than high definition. The camera shoots footage of up to 1440p with a frame rate of 30 frames per second and can capture slow motion footage at a 1/4 of normal speed with a frame rate of 120fps while shooting at a resolution of 720p.
Garmin G-Metrix Sensor Technology
Capable of capturing more than just the video and images of your action packed activities the Garmin VIRB can record environmental data like your speed, altitude, G-force, and when combined with a compatible Garmin device can even add your heart rate data into your recording. It features a high sensitivity GPS, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a compass and an altimeter that constantly capture data that can be displayed as an overlay on the top of your final video edit.
By using motion sensors, the camera detects movements to compensate for vibration so it can deliver steadier video footage. The electronic image stabilisation takes advantage of the cameras higher video resolution to remove shakes and bumps to create smoother, more enjoyable footage.
The XE is waterproof without needing any additional cases or hardware and can be taken as deep as 50 metres making it the perfect camera for recreational underwater scuba diving. The camera has a flat glass lens with a hydrophobic front element that ensure that your shots stay clear without any water droplets when transitioning in and out of the water.
Built-in Garmin GPS
The VIRB XE has an on-board Garmin GPS that records the unit’s location and tracks movements allowing for the creation of overlays that can display lap information, as well as allowing easier synchronisation of multi camera setups by comparing GPS timestamp data. The GPS also captures performance data like speed, elevation that can be displayed on your footage.
Wi-Fi, ANT+ and Bluetooth Connectivity
Wi-Fi can be used to sync the camera to a compatible mobile device enabling you to preview and setup the composition of your shot, connect and control multiple cameras, and change the cameras settings. The camera is able to be connected to Bluetooth headsets for higher quality audio, and supports ANT+ devices like heart rate monitors and bike computers.
The GARMIN VIRB XE is designed especially for adrenaline junkies and extreme sport enthusiasts, its G-Metrix Sensors allows you to capture so much more than other action cameras can, making it the perfect camera for thrill seekers.
