The Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 is an action camera that not only captures high quality 4K video footage, 12 megapixel stills and is waterproof up to 40 metres but also records additional information like altitude, speed and much more. Now you can record how fast you hurtle down a mountain bike trail, how much air you get off a ski jump, or even the G-forces you encounter as you plummet towards the earth while bungie jumping.

High Resolution 4K Video and Super Slow Motion

Shooting video in 4K means that the Garmin offers professional quality video resolution, this allows you to take advantage of the latest technology to show off your extreme sport exploits. Not only does the VIRB Ultra 30 shoot high resolution video but it also shoots slow motion video as well. It captures HD footage at 120 frames per second allowing you to slow motion down to 1/4 time and can even do 480p footage at 300 frames per second that can be slowed down to a surreal 1/10 of normal speed.

Garmin G-Metrix Sensor Technology and More

Capable of capturing more than just the video and images of your action packed activities the Garmin VIRB can record environmental data like your speed, altitude, G-force, and when combined with a compatible Garmin device can even add your heart rate data into your recording. It features a high sensitivity GPS, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a compass and an altimeter that constantly capture data that can be displayed as an overlay on the top of your final edit.

LCD Colour Touchscreen

The Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 has an easy to use 1.75-inch Colour LCD screen which can be used to review footage, change and preview camera settings, and setup your shot. There is no need to fumble around with case clips or locks because its intuitive touchscreen works both in and out of the included waterproof casing.

Voice Control

Garmin have made it easy to mount the VIRB Ultra 30 camera anywhere you want and even easier to start filming with the integration of dedicated voice control operation. Simple commands like “Start Recording” or “Take a Picture” allow you to control your camera even if it’s mounted just out of reach. You can even highlight moments to watch later by telling the camera to “Remember That” and it will tag it in your video so you can easily find it to watch later.

High Sensitivity Microphone

The camera features an enhanced microphone to record clear audio both in and out of the waterproof case, this reduces the muffled audio action cameras traditionally record due to their thick waterproof casing.

Stabilised Video

With 3 Axis Stabilisation the camera can record steady video footage at a resolution up to 1080p at a frame rate of 60fps. This means that no matter what you’re doing whether it’s an off-road adventure, skydiving or snowboarding down a mountain you can be confident that the footage will be smooth and steady.

Wi-Fi and Live Streaming

The Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 has built in Wi-Fi which can connect to the free VIRB Mobile app for iOS and Android phones. This allows you to set up the shot remotely, control multiple cameras, and even trigger recording. Once connected to your mobile device via the Wi-Fi you can even send a live-stream direct to YouTube so you can share your experiences as they happen all over the world.

12 Megapixel Images

As well as shooting stabilised video the VIRB Ultra 30 can also take 12 and 8 megapixel stills, even while it shoots video. The Garmin is also able to shoot a burst of shots up to 60 frames in one second so you can capture shots of quick motion activities like sports or fast moving animals.

Time-lapse and Travelapse Functions

In addition to its dedicated photo mode the camera also has two different time-lapse modes. The first mode is a traditional time-lapse where the camera is programmed to take an image at a set duration for example once every minute to create a video where time passes much quicker. The second mode is a travel-lapse where the camera takes an image based on a set distance rather than time. This is perfect for capturing a road trip or hiking trip every step of the way without having to edit out traffic stops or breaks.
