The Garmin Dash Cam 56 is the perfect companion for anyone after a little extra peace of mind when driving, whether you’re planning a road trip or have a tough daily commute. A sharp 3.7 Megapixel camera offers clear, detailed images and 1440p High Definition video at up to 60fps. The menu and settings are easy to navigate and change thanks to a convenient 2-inch LCD screen on the camera body. A built in microphone can record in-car audio, but it also listens for voice commands so you can tell the camera to take a photo, save video, and more, all without taking your hands off the wheel. Keeping the focus on safety, the camera features different alert systems for forward collision, speed, lane departure and red light cameras to help increase your road awareness. Compatible with the Garmin VIRB app for easy video sharing, it also has a built-in backup battery with up to 30 minutes of runtime to ensure you’re ready for anything.

1440p High Definition Video Capture

With a high quality 3.7 megapixel camera and 140° field of view lens, the Garmin Dash Cam 56 records high definition 1440p video at up to 60 fps. This ensures excellent image detail and clarity in bright or dimly lit conditions, keeping your surroundings in focus.

2-Inch LCD Display Screen

A super convenient 2-inch LCD screen on the back of the cam lets you navigate the menu and check or change your settings. Within a minute of switching on, the screen dims automatically so it’s not a distraction while driving. It can also be used for playback so you can review videos immediately.

Continuous Loop Recording and Auto Saving

The Dashcam 56 supports separately available micro SD cards up to 256GB in size. If an incident is detected, it automatically saves the footage for you. Otherwise, it records in a continuous loop using available memory card space, overwriting old unsaved footage with your newly recorded journey. This convenient set-and-forget setup ensures you’re always recording when it counts.

Time and Location Stamping

Thanks to Garmin’s built in GPS, all footage is stamped with time and location. When viewing your video collection on a computer, you’ll have access to more information like speed, direction of travel, even longitude and latitude co-ordinates.

Wi-Fi Connectivity for Easy Viewing and Sharing

One of the Dashcam’s most convenient features is the ability to use it with the free Garmin VIRB mobile app available for iOS and Android smartphones. Use the app to wirelessly connect the cam to your Smartphone and use it as a viewing screen, or sync videos for easy sharing and storage.

Built-In Microphone and Voice Control

Record in-car audio with the built-in microphone, great for narrating your most epic road trip moments. This feature also enables the Voice Control function which can listen out for your commands. Tell the Dashcam 56 to take a photo, save a video, record audio, and more.

Incident Detection Keeps an Eye on the Road Always

With incident detection, you’ll always have one eye on the road. Using Garmin’s G-Sensor technology to detect bumps and impacts, the camera automatically starts recording with a buffer just before the incident occurs to capture the event in its entirety. The saved video provides you with an accurate eye-witness account of where and when an incident has happened.

Stay Alert with a Range of Safety Warnings

Adding further to your peace of mind, the Garmin Cam also has a range of safety alerts. It features forward collision and lane departure warnings, as well as a “Go” alert to notify you when traffic ahead of you has moved. Additionally, it even warns you about any nearby reported speed and red light cameras so you can be more aware of the roads around you (may require subscription to stay up to date)

Plug-In Power with Integrated Backup Battery

A vehicle adapter is included to power the camera and recording starts as soon as it’s plugged in, or when the car is turned on. An integrated backup battery with up to 30 minutes of run time lets you take the camera outside the car to capture photos of any incidents, damage, or just the landscape.

Travelapse Photo Mode

Travel-lapse mode is designed for creating easy-to-share videos that feature the best parts of your drive. The camera will shoot a still image every 30 seconds, condensing hours of driving into a few minutes, perfect for documenting even the most epic, long and winding road trips.

Parking Surveillance Supported

With support for parking surveillance mode, you can use your Garmin to monitor your vehicle even when you’re not driving. The camera requires a separately available Garmin Parking Mode cable to work, but adds an extra level of security when leaving your car in unfamiliar places.

Easy Do-It-Yourself Installation

An easy, DIY magnetic mount makes the Garmin Dashcam 56 super-easy to install and remove if you want to take it outside the car. Combined with the camera’s ‘plug and play’ style operation, it’s an ideal companion for anyone regularly on the road. Whether you’re looking to record your commute for safety or for fun, this is one backseat driver that will actually enhance your on-road experience.
