The beauty of the FocusMaker Follow Focus System is in its simplicity. Within a matter of minutes, you can setup and shoot cinematic quality pull or throw focus scenes with the accuracy of more expensive and complicated follow focus systems.

Used as a technique to direct the viewer’s attention, pulling or throwing focus gives your movies a more immersive feel that may assist in making a scene more dramatic and emotive. The system consists of 3 main components – a sight, a ruler and two straps to fasten them to the barrel and focusing ring of your lens. The FocusMakersupports most lenses1 with a focus ring diameter between 63mm to 91mm and a ring width of at least 8mm.

Once the system is set up, simply set your lens to manual focus and find the first point-of-focus in your scene. Mark this point on the ruler using a clip-on and move to your next point of focus and do the same. Attach the handle to the ruler and rotate the focus ring to smoothly transition between the two focus points6 included clip markers allow you to set up 6 focal points for the one shot and transition smoothly between each of them. Constructed from lightweight injection moulded plastics for precision, the Focus Maker Follow Focus System weighs less than 100 grams and comes in a convenient carry pouch for transportation or storage.

1 May not work on the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II due to the geometry of the focusing ring. Also may not work on some tilt-shift and other lenses due to the design and shape of the lens barrel or focusing ring.
