The Elinchrom ELB 400 Power Pack provides bright, reliable on-location lighting from its highly portable and convenient form. Fully compatible with the entire range of Elinchrom components, the ELB400 is equipped with an intuitive OLED display, a built-in Skyport receiver, and provides advanced features such as Strobo, Sequence and Delayed flash modes.

This ELB400 power pack unit does not include a battery, allowing you to upgrade your old Quadra control pack without needing to buy another battery.

424 Watts of Portable Power

The Elinchrom ELB 400 Power Pack can deliver up to 424Ws output over a 6.9-stop power range. Two power outlets with an asymmetrical 2:1 power distribution pattern allow you to simultaneously hook-up two flash heads (available separately), one as a primary key-light and the other as a fill-light. When used at the shortest flash durations (up to 1/2800), the ELB400 delivers high-powered flash bright enough for use in full daylight. The power pack also features programmable timers that may be used with the modelling light in addition to the on, off, and continuous modes, further expanding the utility of your setup.

350 Full Power Flashes

With up to 350 full-power flashes, the ELB 400’s advanced circuitry is capable of delivering 25% more power from the Li-ion battery pack (separately available) as compared to its predecessor, the Ranger Quadra. In addition, the pack also ensures optimised lifetime battery performance, and is even capable of recovering deeply discharged cells.

Fast Recycling Time

The ELB400 can recycle from full power (424w/s) in as little as 1.6 seconds, providing a 20% faster recycling time than the original Quadra. When fast recycling isn’t necessary, an ECO Recycling mode helps to conserve the battery. At 3.5 seconds, the Eco recycling mode is more than 45% faster than the Quadra Hybrid system, extending the overall versatility of your lighting set up.

Three New Shooting Modes

Sequence Mode: Allows you to sequentially trigger up to 20 compatible units (ELB 400 or ELC Pro HD Heads), in bursts or as a continuous cycle to utilise the high frame rate of your camera.

Delayed Mode: Provides the option of first or second curtain sync and everything in-between, plus predictive synchronisation within a short sequence.

Strobo Mode: Enables you to take a picture with stroboscopic effects within a single frame.

Integrated EL-Skyport Radio System

A built-in EL-Skyport radio system enables wireless remote control of flash power and flash synchronisation from your camera through an optional EL-Skyport transmitter Plus HS. With Hi-Sync capability, the ELB400 even allows you to sync your camera at up to 1/8000s.

OLED Display and Control Buttons

The intuitive control panel on the top of the unit provides quick and easy access to all functions including power adjustment, flash testing, and control of the unit’s powerful modelling lights. The feature-rich OLED display shows power and battery level, as well as other parameters that help the user to adjust settings for precise and repeatable exposures. The new OLED display also enables intuitive setup of the three shooting modes.

Sync Port and USB Port

The unit also features a 3.5mm sync port for a conventional wired setup and a micro USB socket for firmware updates. The USB input also allows use of an optional Wi-Fi module for control through a computer, and installation of software updates for apps that provide remote control via your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

Practical Design Features

The upgraded design for the ELB 400 Pack is both practical and rugged. The introduction of rubberised flip-up socket-covers not only protects the socket from dust and moisture but also greatly increases speed of setup and pack away of your kit. The cable ports feature twist-locking mechanisms to ensure they stay plugged into the ELB 400.

Convenient Portability

The ELB 400 pack weighs in at just 1.27kg, and 2kg with a Li-Ion Battery, making it incredibly portable and easy to carry around either on a belt or using the separately available shoulder strap - a boon for the photographer constantly on the move.

Compatibility with the Entire Elinchrom System

The highly versatile Elinchrom ELB400 Pack is fully compatible with the complete Elinchrom family of flash heads, battery packs, flash cables and other accessories. The ELB400 Pack is also backward compatible with all previous Quadra products, including existing Lead Gel & Li-Ion Batteries, existing Quadra RX and Quadra Hybrid heads, and first generation non-RX Quadra Heads.
