Specifically designed for photographers who travel light whilst packing enough power to overpower the sun, the ELB 400 builds on the Elinchrom Quadra experience. The built in Skyport system enables seamless synchronisation between your camera and the ELB 400 whilst the OLED display features a rich and quick access to all features.
The Quadra Hi-Sync head is a powerful full-functioning miniaturized flash head. Built to be as portable as possible and weighing only 0.28 kg (0.62 lbs.), this head not only packs well but it is mountable in situations that would be impossible for a full-sized flash head. It also integrates a daylight balanced LED modelling lamp that produces the equivalent of 50W of tungsten light output. The HS designation denotes the system’s optimised head for Hi-Sync photography such as high shutter speeds or overpowering the sun and limits the gradient effect to a maximum.
Full Flash Curve Technology
Utilising Full Flash Curve technology for the most accurate exposure and colour consistency, ELB400 is fully compatible with the complete Elinchrom family of flash units from the humble D-Lite RX One right up to the Power Pack system and the large accessories. Given that the primary working environment is away from the studio, Elinchrom technology also ensures that the shortest flash durations (for the sharpest images) are at higher power levels - just where you will be competing with daylight, and just where our power and focussed accessory systems can work their magic.Faster Recycling
With 20% faster recycling than the Elinchrom Quadra Hybrid, the ELB 400 can recycle from full power (424w/s) in just 1.6 seconds - for wherever speed is key to your shoot. When fast recycling isn’t necessary, the ELB 400 has an ECO Recycling mode to conserve your battery. At 3.5 seconds from full power, the Eco recycling mode is more than 45% faster than the Quadra Hybrid system.OLED Display
The new OLED display features are rich, with quick and easy access to all functions. As well as Elinchrom’s stop based power scale, photographers will now be able to see the power in Joules, and many other settings. Sequence Mode - Allows you to sequentially trigger up to 20 compatible units (ELB 400 or ELC Pro HD Heads), in bursts or as a continuous cycle, to utilise the high frame rate of your camera.Delayed Mode - Provides the option of first or second curtain sync and everything in-between, plus predictive syncronisation within a short sequence.
Strobo Mode - Enables you to take a picture with stroboscopic effects within a single frame.
Improved Battery Capacity
The ELB 400 has an impressive battery capacity of 350 full power flashes. The Li-Ion Battery will charge from flat to full in only 1 hour 30 mins, and with the option of simultaneous charging and shooting, you’ll never need to run out of power on location. The built-in Skyport system provides seamless synchronisation and control between your camera and the ELB 400. Furthermore, intelligent slave cell technology ensures that your existing Speedlights can easily be incorporated within your chosen lighting solution. Need Hypersync to Nikon, Canon or Sony cameras? With the Quadra Pro Head & Quadra HS (Hi-Sync) Head this is possible with the addition of the Elinchrom Skyport Plus HS Transmitter (sold separately). Enhanced Rugged Design
The new design for the ELB 400 Pack is both practical, and rugged. In particular the introduction of rubber (to confirm) flip-up socket covers greatly increases speed of setup and pack away of your kit. A useful addition for the photographer constantly on the move.Portability
No corners are cut and portability is guaranteed like no other. The ELB 400 pack weighs in at just 1.27kg, and only 2kg including a Li-Ion Battery. The heads weigh just 365g (including reflector and diffuser cap), with the 2.5m head cables adding only 350g. All in all, this makes the ELB 400 the lightest location lighting system on the market in its class.Compatibility with the entire Elinchrom system
Kit can be customised for each job with a variety of flash head options, variable length individual head cables avoid twisting and are more easily packed. The ultra compact head comes supplied with a removable 13.5cm 80 Degree reflector. Once detached this allows use of a bespoke range of compact accessories plus the Elinchrom Mount Adapter Mk II enables the use of every Elinchrom accessory option, including a variety of reflectors, beauty dishes, umbrellas and softboxes - right up the largest Lightbank sizes.Five Interchangeable Heads
The ELB 400 is available with a choice of three heads and two ringflashes. The Quadra Action Head provides the best flash duration (up to 1/5700) for freezing motion. The Quadra HS Head is a specialist head for Hi-Sync photography. The Quadra Pro Head is a great all rounder, HS compatible with the highest guide number and a flash duration between the other two heads (up to 1/3000s).The Quadra Eco Ringlflash is a portable lightweight solution, while the Quadra Ringflash Pro allows freezing movement with a flash duration of up to 1/4500 s.
