FlightAutonomy System
Vision Positioning and Obstacle Sensing System
The Phantom 4 Advanced is equipped with 5 vision sensors for accurate positioning and a 2-directional obstacle detection system to provide safe navigation while flying outside, indoors, or in areas where GPS signal is unavailable. Boasting a 30m vision range, the Forward Vision Obstacle Sensing System allows the quadcopter to fly over or around obstacles to help prevent collisions, giving you the confidence to attempt more ambitious film-making projects. The aircraft connects to both GPS and GLONASS to provide accurate positioning and reliable outdoor navigation.
Visual Tracking
Using an advanced combination of vision, object recognition and machine learning, the quadcopter can recognize and follow a defined subject - moving or stationary, without the need for a GPS tracker. On-screen subject-marking enables the camera to lock-on and follow the target, keeping it centred in the frame.
Return to Home Mode
The Return to Home function allows the drone to fly back to its take-off point if it flies beyond the transmission range, or otherwise the function may be activated if you simply want the drone to fly back without your intervention. In RTH Mode, the quadcopter automatically selects the optimal route to return to its point of take-off while adjusting its flight to go over or around any obstacles. If upon returning to the take-off point the aircraft detects water or an obstacle blocking the landing point, it will conveniently hover at an appropriate height and alert the pilot.
Intelligent Flight Modes
Four intelligent flight modes put the drone into automatic flight patterns, letting you focus on controlling the camera to create professional aerial footage even if you have no experience of piloting a drone.Draw Mode
An all-new function from DJI the Draw mode offers an easy way to control waypoints for your drone. All you have to do it draw a path on the controllers integrated screen and the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced+ locks the altitude while following the set route. This frees the pilot up to focus on controlling the camera for more epic aerial shots.
ActiveTrack
The quadcopter’s Visual Tracking System lets it recognise and track an object, keeping it in frame. The ActiveTrack Mode offers 3 options. Modes like the Profile Mode where the quadcopter flies alongside a subject to capture a side view of moving subjects, perfect for long sequences of moving subjects such as vehicles. Or the Spotlight Mode, which locks the camera onto a selected subject, keeping it constantly in the centre of the frame. The Trace Mode makes the drone constantly follow and capture a subject, from behind or in front, while at the same time avoiding any obstacles.
Tapfly Mode
The TapFly mode allows you to control and fly the Phantom 4 Advanced by simply tapping your finger on your smart device screen. TapFly lets you focus on controlling the camera while the drone navigates through a set flight path. The Phantom 4 Adcanced now features reverse Tapfly which allows you to program the drone to capture a stunning aerial selfie as it reverses away from you to reveal the landscape around you.
Gesture Mode
Designed to make it easy for anyone to take a selfie with the drone, the Gesture mode lets you use simple gestures to give instructions to the Phantom. Simply lift your arms and the drone will ensure that you are located in the centre of the frame and then by holding your arms out towards the camera the drone will start a 3-second countdown giving you just enough time to get ready for it snaps a shot.
Selectable Flight Modes
Three flight modes - P (Position), A (Atti), and S (Sport), offer distinct flight characteristics to suit your specific production requirements. Switching between the modes lets you choose between smoothness, simplicity, intelligent navigation, or absolute control. In addition, a Tripod Mode that limits speed to 7km per hour keeps the drone stable, ensuring precision framing or safer indoor flight.

1-Inch 20 Megapixel CMOS Sensor Camera
The Phantom 4 Advanced's on-board camera is equipped with a 1-inch 20-megapixel CMOS sensor for outstanding image quality. The large sensor captures more information in every pixel to offer a much wider dynamic range, lower signal-to-noise ratio and superior low-light performance. A maximum ISO of 12800 ensures you can capture stunning images and video even when flying in low light, dusk or dawn.
Cinema Quality 4K Video
The camera can shoot video in both Cinema 4K as well as UHD 4K at 60 fps, providing high resolution slow motion footage. Powerful video processing supports H.264 and H.265 video with upto 100 Mbps bitrate, capturing more image detail and data for post-production editing.
High Resolution Still Images
A 24mm wide angle lens (35mm equivalent) produces wide panoramic shots, and features a f/2.8 maximum aperture for better low light performance. The lens is comprised of 7 elements, including two aspherical elements to reduce distortions and aberrations, providing images with outstanding clarity. The camera captures 20-megapixel images in either JPG or Adobe’s DNG RAW format for post-processing flexibility, while you can also easily extract an image from the 4K video files.
Mechanical Shutter
The quadcopter’s camera uses a mechanical shutter to eliminate the motion blur caused by a rolling electronic shutter when shooting stills of fast moving objects. With a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000-second, the mechanical shutter ensures capture of sharp, realistic photos even when the drone is flying fast or panning. The electronic shutter features a maximum speed of 1/8000s, allowing you to capture up to 14 frames per second in Burst Shooting Mode to catch the perfect moment.
Focus Adjustment
The camera supports one-tap focus adjustment, letting you set a focus point by simply tapping on the display screen, while auto-focus can be triggered by half-pressing the shutter button.
Camera Stabilisation
The 3-axis gimbal instantly responds to every minor movement of the aircraft to stabilise the camera during flight, creating smooth and stable footage with a levelled horizon. The gimbal also lets you manually control camera pan and tilt via the controller to get the ideal angle for your shot.

Built-In Redundancies

The Phantom 4 Advanced integrates the DJI Lightbridge system to transmit HD video feed and remote control signal with a range of up to 7km.
