Compact Video Camera for Professionals and Students

The Canon Legria HF G40 is a compact body video camera designed for professionals and students alike. It features a powerful 1/2.84 type High Definition CMOS Pro Sensor, high bitrate output and first class optics to help you capture beautiful videos in a wide range of shooting situations.

Full HD Sensor with Low Noise Output

Housing a newly developed Canon Full HD CMOS sensor, the video camera has an improved signal-to-noise ratio resulting in 40% reduction over the HFG30. Users can keep recording in dark low-light settings with exceptional high-sensitivity noise-free image performance.

20x Optical Zoom Lens with High Definition Resolving Power

An impressive 20x optical zoom lens starts at a wide angle focal length (35mm equivalent) of 26.8mm and reaches an impressive 576mm reach without compromising the compact form of the camera. The high definition lenses utilise aspherical elements to achieve low chromatic aberration and super spectra coatings for reduced flare and ghosting.

Bright F1.8-2.8 Aperture through the Zoom Range

A bright aperture across the focal range of f1.8-2.8 couples with the low-noise output for impressive low-light quality footage. It’s 8-blade circular aperture achieves a softer out of focus blur or bokeh, and minimises the “starburst” effect of camcorders with non-circular apertures.

Excellent Colour Reproduction

Canon’s DIGIV DV 4 Image Processor powers the video camera providing stellar image reproduction with true-to-life colour. The significant boost this processor provides enables simultaneous format recording to MP4 and AVCHD. This is further bolstered by the dual SD card slots.

5-Axis Image Stabilisation

To ensure video remains clear even through the extensive zoom range, Canon has integrated a 5-axis SuperRange Optical Image Stabiliser and Dynamic Image Stabilisation to give continuous shake compensation. The system minimises rotational, horizontal, vertical and roll axis movement for smooth, distortion-free video. Shoot handheld footage with confidence, even while you’re walking.

Highlight and Dynamic Range Settings

The Highlight Priority mode of the video camera ensures scene highlights and tonal gradations are recorded faithfully. A wide dynamic range gamma (Wide DR) image setting is also available, which expands the DR of the camera 600% by compressing high brightness areas.

Touchscreen LCD Control

Canon’s Legria HF G 40 High Definition camcorder boasts a 3.5” OLED touchscreen which provides full-manual control of aperture, shutter speed, gain and exposure. With a switchable zoom and focus ring at the front of the lens as well as iris control, this highly usable camera equips you with all the operations you need to make and capture beautifully creative footage.
