The Canon EOS 5DS R is a high performance camera with an astonishing 50.6 megapixel CMOS full frame sensor. The camera is ideal for photographers who require medium format image resolution in a highly responsive, ergonomic and durable camera. The 5DS R excels at studio, commercial and landscape photography.
Highly Resolving Sensor
With a newly developed sensor that rivals medium and large format cameras in resolution, the 5DS R is capable of producing 8688 x 5792 pixel images that are rich with fine detail. The ultra-high resolution allows photographs to be dramatically cropped during post production while still retaining excellent detail and image quality. The large files are perfect for wide-format landscape printing and for final print output in billboard and advertising productions.
The 5DS R utilises a low pass cancellation filter which maximises the sensors resolving abilities. The high megapixel count and reduced anti-aliasing filter make this camera capable of creating images with extremely fine details and razor sharp acuity when paired with high quality lenses.
Excellent AF and Metering in Any Light
The advanced 61-point High Density Reticular autofocus system ensures that your images will be pin-sharp with excellent accuracy across the frame. The AF system features a total of 41 cross-type points, with 21 central points and 20 outer frame points, which are all sensitive down to -2 EV in extremely low-light situations.
A 150,000 pixel RGB metering system with infra-red sensitivity utilises EOS Intelligent Subject Analysis 252-zone metering to ensure that your photographs are ideally exposed in any lighting scenario.
Impressive 5 FPS Continuous Shooting
Dual DIGIC 6 processors offer fantastic read out speed and enable an impressive 5 frames per second continuous shooting perfect for fluid and fast-paced commercial shoots. Images and stills are recorded onto Compact Flash or Secure Digital media via the integrated dual card slots.
Minimised Mirror Vibrations
To ensure images retain maximum sharpness, the camera utilises a Mirror Vibration Control System which minimises camera shake and blur due to mirror movement or slap. The Arbitrary Release Time Lag Setting while in Mirror Lock mode allows users to set the interval between when a mirror locks up and when the camera shutter triggers, allowing any mirror movement vibrations to dissipate in this window of time.
High ISO Capabilities
The camera is capable of a native high ISO of 6400 in both stills and video mode, for creative versatility in a wide variety of natural and ambient light situations at a huge 50.6 MP.
Intelligent Viewfinder II with 100% Coverage
Easily compose images via the bright Intelligent Viewfinder II, which offers approximately 100% viewfinder coverage. The sophisticated viewfinder is capable of showing detailed shoot information, allowing photographers to make a wide variety of settings changes while keeping an eye on the action.
Quickly Review Photographs
At the rear is a 3.2” TFT LCD monitor with an anti-reflective 1,040,000 dot screen. Canon’s Clear View II technology ensures that the display remains bright and sharp in a variety of lighting situations. The playback zoom range of 1x - 16x makes it perfect for assessing and reviewing photographs on the fly.
Powerful Shooting Modes
The camera features a range of creatively versatile stills modes including Multiple Exposure mode, and HDR imaging mode. The newly introduced intervalometer sequentially takes still images over a designated period of time. The series can then be converted into beautiful story-telling time-lapse movies. The 5DS R also offers a FULL HD (1920 x 1080) movie mode.
The Canon EOS 5D S R is capable of producing stunning images with image quality unmatched in current full frame cameras.
