The Canon EOS 1D C caters to professional photographers, cinematographers and DSLR filmmakers. This full-frame powerhouse blurs the line between still photos and movies with its ability to capture 4K video using Canon’s extensive range of EF mount and Cinema EOS lenses.
Opening up a new and exciting world of creative potential, the 1D C shrinks the size of traditional 4K capable cameras into the size of a professional DSLR. Fully self-contained, the 1D C requires no additional power or external storage, recording stunning 4K video directly to one or both of its dual Compact Flash card slots.
The 18.1 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor takes maximum advantage of the ultra-sharp EF and Cinema lenses available to capture tack-sharp, detail-rich, immersive video across a broad range of lighting conditions. An ISO range from ISO 50 to 204800 provides unparalleled exposure versatility while an improved signal-to-noise ratio allows you to push the limits of the sensor with confidence.
Dual DIGIC 5+ image processors deliver 4K video (4096x2160) at 24fps in a YCbCr colour space with a sampling ratio of 4:2:2 and 8-bit depth. Full HD recording allows you to push the frame rate to 60fps for spectacular slow-motion footage. A clean HDMI-out permits recording with Time Code support to an external recorder and supports an external monitor for better compositional accuracy and colour scrutiny. The dual processor configuration also delivers lightning-fast processing across all camera functions, runs real-time algorithms to remove noise during high ISO shooting and significantly reduces chromatic aberration and other optical artefacts based on in-camera lens data.
Canons Log Gamma delivers maximum dynamic range of up to 800% and allows greater exposure latitude when shooting in difficult or variable lighting conditions. The files produced are ideally suited to post-production, allowing colour matching, colour correction and grading to be applied without any noticeable impact on image quality.
With such a comprehensive arsenal of video features, it’s easy to forget that the Canon 1D C is still an extremely capable stills camera. Sharing its heritage with the EOS-1 series line-up it boasts a full frame CMOS sensor that shoots at 12fps in full-resolution burst mode. Autofocus is lightning fast and consistently accurate thanks to a 61-Point High-Density Reticular AF System and 100,000 pixel RGB metering system.
Built to satisfy the demands of seasoned professionals, the 1D C body is crafted from Magnesium Alloy to create a strong, lightweight, uncompromisingweather and dust resistant shell. Internally, carbon-fibre shutter blades ensure the 12fps continuous shooting capability is always at your disposal. The shutter is rated at up to an astonishing 400,000 cycles before servicing may be required.
Its bright optical viewfinder delivers an approximate 100% field of view, equipping you to shoot with pixel perfect composition. It features an aspherical lens element which minimises distortion and reduces colour aberration to deliver an ultra-sharp image with true-to-life colour representation. The intelligent viewfinder features a transparent LCD which can be customised to display AF points, exposure settings, gridlines and more. Additionally, all shooting data and scene information can be disabled in the viewfinder, leaving you free of distractions and allowing you to concentrate on your composition and lighting.
Combining a stunning 4K video camera with a professional level stills camera in a sturdy, ergonomic body the Canon EOS-1D C represents the ultimate tool for sports shooters, wedding photographers and everyone in between.
