The SMX-15 Powered Shotgun Microphone features a high quality microphone element capable of capturing broadcast quality sound for video recording for DSLRs, mirrorless cameras and camcorders.

Superior Directionality & Off-Axis Sound Rejection

The acoustically tuned slots of the shotgun barrel provide the SMX-15 its super-cardioid polar pattern for concentrating on sound in front of the microphone, while reducing captured noise from the behind the direction the mic is pointed.

Gain Enhancement

A gain booster lets you increase your recorded signal by +20dB to provide strong and clean audio, which prevents your cameras low quality audio preamp from trying to boost the signal which often results in a loud hiss and degraded audio quality .

Distortion Control

For recording in loud noisy situations, such as in a music concert or sporting event, the mic features a -10 dB pad to protect against overload distortion.

Wide Frequency Response

Sporting a wide frequency response ranging from 40Hz to 20kHz, the SMX-15 can capture sounds that are full and natural.

Low-Cut Filter

A low-cut switch allows the reduction of low frequencies below 120 Hz to unwanted noise caused by air conditioners, light wind and distant traffic.

Auto Power Mode

The “Auto” power setting is a fail safe way to ensure the battery does not drain if you forget to turn-off the microphone. When set to the Auto mode*, the microphone can detect when a camera is on and will automatically power on and off with the camera.

Integrated Shock Absorber

An integrated shock absorbing shoe mount effectively isolates the microphone from camera auto focus motor sounds and handling noise.

Power by AA Batteries

The SMX-15 is powered by readily available and affordable AA batteries. A single set of 2 AA batteries can provide up to 24 hours of operation with no sound quality degradation. An LED indicator lets you know one hour before a battery change is required.

Boom Pole Mounting

The mount fits a standard camera shoe and the Azden SMX-15 Microphone can also be mounted to boom poles and other camera accessories using a 1/4” thread on the bottom.

* Auto power mode only works with cameras with mic inputs providing plug-in power.
