The Ricoh GXR is a unique compact camera system that consists of a body and separate interchangeable camera/lens units. Coupled with the Ricoh GXR A12 M-Mount Lens Unit featuring an APS-C size 12.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor and focal plane shutter, Ricoh has made it possible to combine Leica M-Mount Lenses with the Ricoh GXR camera body delivering a high-quality compact interchangeable lens system. The A12’s large APS-C CMOS sensor ensures low-noise performance as well as beautiful bokeh.
To accommodate a wide range of classic legacy film lenses the unit can deliver peripheral brightness and colour correction, distortion correction, and the ability to register custom settings for each lens, and embed EXIF data. With a light and strong magnesium-alloy camera body that also sports a high-resolution 3.0” 920K LCD screen, plus the ability to mount an optional external viewfinder, the use of a whole vista of classic lenses is opened up for you to capture and create wonderful and unique images with the Ricoh GXR compact system camera.
Movie Feature – captures HD video* with audio up to 1280x720p resolution at 30 frames/sec.
* We recommend using class 6 or higher memory cards for recording high definition video with this camera.
Compatibility with a wide variety of lenses - Compatible with Leica M mount lenses (please see compatibility list below) and if an optional conversion adapter is used many more types of mounts can also be accommodated. A checking device is included for use in confirming whether or not your lenses are physically compatible.
New 12.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS Sensor - CMOS sensor with an optimised micro lens layout makes it possible to achieve vivid image quality by ensuring sufficient brightness levels even in the peripheral areas of the image. 23.6mm×15.7mm (APS-C size) delivers high-quality images with smooth tone gradations as well as high definition and low noise.
Lens Correction - Colour shading correction is possible in a -4 to +4 range for both R and B and peripheral brightness correction is possible in a -3 to +3 range. A distortion correction function is provided to correct for barrel and pin-cushion distortion that tends to occur in the lens periphery.
High Precision Manual Focusing - High-precision manual focusing is achieved via two modes that allow focus checking by strengthening outlines or contrast, plus enhanced 8x screen magnification.
Electronic Shutter And Focal Plane Shutter - With the electronic shutter, settings of 1/8000 sec. to 1 sec. are possible, and the photographer can shoot without worrying about shutter noise and vibration. With the focal plane shutter, settings of 1/4000 sec. to 180 sec. are possible.
My Settings - enables a wide range of shooting functions to be selected in an instant. Six patterns can be stored in the body's My Settings Box and six patterns can be stored on the SD card.
Lens EXIF Data - Information on the lens used such as lens name, focal length, and F value can be entered so that the EXIF data will be stored in the images.
New Scene Modes – includes Soft Focus, Cross Process, Toy Camera, Miniaturise and High Contrast B&W.
Electronic Level – built-in accelerometer shows when the horizon is level
High-Quality Durable Body – die-cast aluminium body with corrosion resistant pear-skin coating makes for lightweight and durable construction with a superior finish that feels good in the hand.
Maximum ISO 3200 – increased sensitivity for faster shutter speeds in low-light with AUTO-HI setting allowing user-defined maximum setting.
Image Settings with 9 Levels - includes Vivid, Standard, Natural, Black & White, B&W (TE), and Setting. In addition, for Black & White, B&W (TE), and Setting, the contrast and sharpness can be adjusted to 9 levels.
Full Press Snap – with this setting a one-push full-press of the shutter-release button instantly takes the shot, skipping the usual AF operation. It is possible to select from the following focus distances: 1 m, 1.5 m, 2 m, 2.5 m, 3 m, 3.5 m, 5 m, or infinity.
Pre-AF - automatically identifies the subject and continues to focus. So when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the lens is already at a focus distance close to optimum. Makes for faster AF operation.
M-Continuous Plus - camera shoots continuously while the shutter-release button is pressed, and it records the 30 still images shot just before the instant you remove your finger from the shutter-release button.
Three Grid Guides – select from three different grid guides to aid composition.
Bracketing Functions – select from a range of bracketing settings including Auto, White Balance and Colour Bracketing.
Customisable ADJ Lever and Two Fn Buttons – Frequently used settings can be assigned to the ADJ lever as well as two Function Buttons for quick and easy access to your favourite camera functions.
High-resolution 3.0" 920k LCD Screen - A wide colour reproduction range with 100% sRGB coverage gives a high-reality image for both shooting and playback. Enables careful checking of focus when images are magnified and reviewed in playback. Superior visibility and durability are achieved with a fluorine coat to prevent soiling, a hard coat to prevent scratches, and an anti-reflection coat.
Optional Electronic Viewfinder VF-2 – get the external VF-2 Electronic Viewfinder (sold separately) with a high-resolution 922k and 100% field of view to aid composition such as when in bright sunlight or for manual focusing. Attaches to hot shoe and also has -1+/-3.5 diopter adjustment.
