The X100F is the fourth in a generation of premium compact cameras from Fujifilm. It boasts a large 24-megapixel X-Trans CMOS III APS-C image sensor and razor sharp 23mm Fujinon f/2 prime lens. Fuji have upgraded the processing power inside by installing the new X-Processor Pro which delivers an enhanced 8fps burst rate capable of capturing fleeting moments with ease.
Maintaining the style of the X100 series cameras the X100F has a die-cast magnesium alloy body and synthetic leather for durability and grip, designed to fit comfortably in your hand. With its compact body shape, and lightweight construction the camera is incredibly portable making it perfect for a range of photography styles.
24.3 Megapixel X-Trans CMOS III Sensor
The APS-C Sensor has been boosted in resolution up to 24.3 megapixels and uses an aperiodic colour filter array to control moiré without the need for an optical low-pass filter. Ultimately this leads to improved sharpness and more accurate colours. The low light sensitivity range of the sensor is boosted to 12800 and can be extended to 51200 for extreme situations.
X-Processor Pro Image Processing Engine
The X100F takes advantage of the new X-Processor which allows it to achieve 4-times as fast processing speeds. Start-up time is 0.5 seconds allowing you to power on and grab the shot in a split second. The increased 8 frames per second continuous shooting rate allows you to shoot multiple shots of moving subjects so you can capture a range of options.
23mm F/2 Fujinon Lens
The edge to edge sharpness of the 23mm lens on the X100F offers a 35mm equivalent of approximately 35mm making it perfect for urban street photography and real life portraiture. The lens itself consists of 8 elements arranged in 6 groups, which use a double-sided high performance aspheric lens as well as a convex lens made of high refractive glass to delivers incredible optical performance.
Modern Controls with a Classic Twist
Using the same shutter speed dial as the previous X100 cameras the latest models pays homage to the beautifully designed cameras of yesteryear with a new ISO dial built inside the shutter dial with a classic cut out indicator window and a pull and twist operation.
Increased Exposure Compensation Settings
An easy access exposure compensation dial makes exposure changes easy to perform in 1/3 stop increments ±3 steps, while the new “C” Position setting expands the compensation range to 5 stops giving you increased creative flexibility.
Incorporating the same 8 position focus lever joystick design found on the XPro-2, the X100F gives you better control over your focus point section. Using the joystick, you can change the autofocus area or select one of the many autofocus points to ensure your subjects are always sharp.
Hybrid Phase Detection Autofocus
With 91 intelligent hybrid phase detection autofocus point the X100F offers significantly more focus points than its predecessors allowing you to track moving subject with accuracy and the new processors allows the camera to focus in as little as 0.08 seconds. The system is capable of focusing in any light with its new autofocus algorithm that can focus in light conditions as low as -3EV.
Eye for Detail Hybrid Viewfinder
The Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder of the X100F truly takes photography to the next level by providing a choice of digital, optical viewfinder, or the electronic rangefinder, which offers an optical view with digital picture in picture as well. With an increased 60 fps refresh rate the 2.36K dot hybrid viewfinder ensures that you can view the whole scene before you decide to capture your decisive moment.
Real Time Parallax Correction
Parallax is the gap between the guide frame and actual shooting range when shooting close up, parallax correction automatically compensates for this in real time allowing you to make more accurate decisions about your composition. The correction function now extends to the focus area as well as the guide frame to enable more refined manual focusing and composition.
The lens is supplemented by a Digital Tele-Converter allowing 50mm and 70mm equivalent focal lengths in addition to the 35mm angle of view. Settings for the Digital Teleconverter can be accessed from the menu, or through the control ring on the lens barrel allowing previewing the image on the LCD before shooting.
Famous Fuji Colour Reproduction
If there is one thing Fuji is well known for it is their absolutely beautiful rendition of colours that put them in a class of their own. The X100F is no exception with 15 film simulations like Fuji’s famous PROVIA and VELVIA film emulations as well as the softer ASTIA and many more.
The X100F boasts a brand new absolutely stunning ACROS monochrome mode that boasts rich monochrome gradation as well as deep black and textures, perfect for fine art photography and shots that need a different black and white look.
The integrated Wi-Fi feature opens up a range of creative features. Using the Fujifilm Camera Remote App, the camera can be remotely operated through a Wi-Fi connected smartphone or tablet. Captured images can be geo-tagged, viewed and transferred to a smartphone for instant sharing and uploading on social media.
Range of Shooting Modes
The X100F has a whole range of bracketing modes from the traditional exposure to white balance and even film simulation. It can shoot silently by using a digital shutter which can shoot at an ultra-fast speed of 1/32000 seconds to combat strong daylight when shooting wide open. The lens also comes with inbuilt ND filters that can cut the light down to 1/8.
Inbuilt Creative Filters
Various filters can be applied in camera in addition to the Fuji colour modes, the advanced filters allow you to make simple creative shots with modes like High Key, Toy camera, Pop colour, dynamic tone and partial colour. This allows you to explore different looks and styles in camera.
With its subtle form factor and refined image quality, the Fuji Finepix X100 F lends itself ideally to street photography, candid portraits, and other world class styles of images. It managed to perfectly mix style, portability and performance
