Refined Piloting Experience
Reliable Outdoor and Indoor Navigation
The Phantom 4 connects to American and Russian GPS satellites systems to provide quick and accurate positioning while outside. The new Vision Positioning System (VPS) uses 4 front and downward facing cameras that capture optical and sonar data to detect obstacles up to 15 metres in front and 10 metres below. These sensors allow the drone to be operated indoors or in other situations previously impossible due to the lack of GPS signal. Enabling the Phantom 4 to hover precisely, maintain its position and stop instantly when the joystick controls are released. If disturbed during a hover by heavy winds for example, the VPS and GPS systems tracks the Phantom 4's movement and return it to its original hovering point.
Obstacle Detection and Avoidance
Obstacle and altitude sensors in conjunction with advanced computer vision and processing give the Phantom 4 an active obstacle avoidance feature that allow it to sense and avoid obstacles in its flight path. The Active Obstacle Sensing System enables the quadcopter to detect and then fly over or around obstacles. The sense and avoid system prevents crash landings and reduces the chances of collisions making the Phantom 4 easy to fly even for first time pilots.
Fly with Touch
The TapFly mode allows you to control and fly the Phantom 4 by simply tapping your finger on your smart device screen. An alternate method to the traditional joystick controlled flying method, the TapFly mode lets you focus on controlling the camera while the drone navigates through a set flight path. Tapping a point on the screen sets the direction and altitude of flight. The Phantom 4 then calculates an optimal flight route to reach the selected destination, while circumventing any obstacles in its path. Tapping another spot lets the drone smoothly transition towards that destination, making even a novice pilot look like a seasoned professional.
Using an advanced combination of vision, object recognition and machine learning the quadcopter can recognise and follow a defined subject, moving or stationary, without the use of a GPS tracker. When you mark the subject on screen the camera is able to lock-on and follow the target, keeping it centred in the frame. Allowing more advanced flying techniques like circling a moving object to be attainable with just the flick of a button.
Smart Return to Home (RTH)
The Return to Home function enables the Phantom 4 to fly back to its take-off point in case you lose control signal or sight of the aircraft, or simply want it to return to you without manually controlling it. In the RTH Mode, the quadcopter will constantly scan its flight path for obstacles and adjust its flight to go over or around any obstacles while flying back home. If you accidentally fly beyond the Phantom 4’s range, it will automatically trigger the Return to Home function to bring the done back to you.
3 Main Flight Modes
The Phantom 4 offers the flexibility to suit your specific requirements allowing you to choose between intelligent navigation, speed or a smoother flight mode for video.
Position (P) Mode is the standard flight mode and uses satellite positioning and Vision Positioning, to provide modes like TapFly, ActiveTrack and other Intelligent Flight Modes for easy flying. Sport (S) Mode enhances the drone’s extra agility and speed, disables the Obstacle Sensing System but the use of satellite and vision positioning systems. Attitude (A) Mode holds the Phantom’s altitude and level but switches off satellite positioning so the drone doesn’t hold position and moves with wind currents making it ideal for more natural smooth video coverage.
Intelligent Flight Modes
With its upgraded intelligent positioning systems, the Phantom 4 allows you to create professional aerial footage even if you have no experience piloting a drone. The 4 intelligent flight modes are designed to make the most out of shooting moving objects such as wildlife or sporting events.
The drone automatically tracks the connected mobile device and follows you while capturing your movement from a unique aerial perspective.
Point of Interest:
Allows you to set a specific object or location as a point of interest, so the drone can continuously orbit around it, allowing you to focus solely on the composition of the shot and camera operation for more precise results.
Enables you to specify a master direction so that the forward, back, left and right joystick controls are absolute, allowing you to control the direction of its flight irrespective of the direction the Phantom is facing. This makes it possible to rotate the drone without altering the relative direction of the flight controls for a simpler, more natural flying experience.
: Set multiple GPS waypoints and the aircraft automatically flies through each of the waypoints, so you can refine camera movements and easily re-create shots for additional coverage.
Sets the backward control on the joystick to navigate the drone back to the home position regardless of where it is or what direction it is facing. This feature can be useful if the drone is far away and it is difficult to fly the correct direction home.

Stunning 4K Footage
Equipped with a 1/2.3-inch CMOS Sensor, the camera on the Phantom 4 can shoot smooth ultra-high definition 4K video at 30fps and full high definition movies at 120fps. The fast frame rates mean you can create truly amazing slow-motion footage and the 4K ensures that you can take advantage of the higher resolution video quality. The phantom records the data on-board using a microSD card in MOV or MP4 format.
High Resolution Still Images
The Phantom 4 is able to capture 12 Megapixel still images in both Adobe DNG RAW or JPEG format. Single shot mode is available in addition to burst shooting, time lapse and the introduction of a HDR mode for better dynamic creativity.
Advanced Lens Design
The 94° angle-of-view lens with a wide 20mm focal length delivers panoramic shots with minimal warping resulting in more natural looking footage. The lens features an f/2.8 aperture for low light performance and comprises of 9 elements, including an aspherical element to reduce distortion and chromatic aberration.
Active Camera Stabilisation
A 3-axis gimbal allows for horizontal and vertical camera movement while eliminating unwanted in-flight camera movement and vibration, enabling the camera to capture stable, smooth and level footage even during complex manoeuvres. The “U” shaped frame enhances stabilisation by anchoring both sides of the camera while custom-designed dampers ensure vibrations from the motors do not translate into camera shake.
Professional Post Production
A range of professional video colour profiles including D-Log and Cine-D are available so that the files can be colour corrected and tweaked for perfect results in post-production.
Lightweight and Durable Body
The Phantom 4 features an ultra-lightweight elegant design, with a brilliant white finish. The magnesium skeleton provides rigidity and strength, while minimising vibrations.

Increased Flight Time
High efficiency motors and a large capacity 5,350 mAh intelligent battery provide an estimated flight time of 28 minutes. The smart battery features a set of 4 LEDs to indicate the amount of charge left, in addition to a battery level indicator on the screen, giving you an accurate up to date flight time.
High Speed Flying and Braking
Designed with drone racing enthusiasts and experienced pilots in mind, the Sport mode transforms the Phantom 4 into an incredibly quick flying machine. In addition to the thrill of speeds up to 72 km per hour and an increased ascent and descent speed, the sport mode is useful for following and recording fast moving subjects like cars or downhill skiers. The new air braking feature can bring the quadcopter to a halt quicker than ever before.
The Phantom features a fast and easy to install “push-and-release” mechanism to secure the propellers to the motors. The quick release system reduces assembly time and ensures the aircraft is ready for flight instantly. The new propellers can handle increased acceleration and harder braking much better than the previous models propellers.
The multi-function remote controller fully integrates the live video downlink and aircraft remote control system. The transmitter features camera and gimbal motion controls, as well as flight movement joysticks and a handy return to home button.
Connection to Smartphone
An adjustable flip-out cradle to hold a phone or a tablet is built-in to the remote controller. Rather than Wi-Fi, the Phantom 4 uses a physical USB connection between mobile device to ensure an uninterrupted and lag-free view of the live stream.
All the controls on the Phantom 4’s transmitter unit can be customised to match your flying style, from control stick sensitivity to the functionality of dedicated buttons allowing full control over your flights.
