Canon’s new high power flash accessory, the HF-DC1, extends the options for night and indoor shooting for many of the PowerShot cameras. Suits the Canon A, S, IXUS, G, PRO series cameras.
With a guide number of 18 (ISO 100, metres), the slave flash automatically fires in-sync with the camera’s in-built flash, ignoring any pre-flash. The flash operates wirelessly and increases the effective flash range up to approximately 30 feet. It can be adjusted to three power output settings based on the aperture value of the camera.
The HF-DC1 flash is supplied with a mounting bracket so it can be attached to the camera, but it can also be hand-held or mounted on a tripod or accessory light stand to adjust the lighting angle for pro-like quality results.
Multiple HF-DC1 units can be synchronized with a single camera for even greater lighting flexibility. This smart high powered slave flash unit is compact and compatible with almost every PowerShot digital camera.
The unit has dimensions of 1.81x2.60x1.17 inches and weighs 2.3 oz. This does not include the weight of the bracket. The bracket has dimensions of 4.13x0.87x0.67 inches and weighs 1.1 oz. So overall, you're adding 3.4 oz. to the weigh of your camera and a little bit of width.
