Offering the longest optical zoom ever in the history of the brand, the Nikon Coolpix P500 digital camera builds on the strengths of its predecessor, boasting a massive 36x optical zoom (22.5-810mm) focal range whilst still compact enough to sit in the palm of your hand. Featuring a 12.1 megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor and new Expeed C2 Dual Image Processors that promise low-noise performance, the P500 also incorporates dual optical and electronic VR (Vibration Reduction) to capture sharp shots with less blur. Also combining a variable-angle high-resolution 3.0” 921k-dot LCD screen – the same as used on pro DLSR cameras, manual controls, and user-friendly layout, the Nikon P500 is the ultimate big-zoom compact.
Movie Feature – captures Full HD video* with stereo audio up to 1920x1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. Features a dedicated video record button and full 36x optical zoom with autofocus is available during recording. Still images can be captured whilst recording. Also has a variety of different resolutions and frame rates including high speed 240fps (switchable whilst recording) for slow-motion playback.

12.1 megapixel Backside Illuminated CMOS sensor - As light is more effectively received by the image sensor, even images captured at the maximum sensitivity setting of ISO 3200 exhibit significantly less noise.
Large, high resolution (3-in.) 921k-dot LCD monitor - with variable-angle, wide viewing angle and anti-reflection coating. Better for composition and playback, even in bright sunlight. Variable angle makes it easier to compose shots from low, high or awkward angles.
Side zoom control - enables smooth, steady zooming throughout the 36x zoom range when shooting photos or movies.
Dual Image Stabilisation - Image sensor shift and electronic vibration reduction (VR) function, to capture sharper images with less blur.
