Reknowned for its razor sharp lens performance across its zoom range, this new version of a popular classic retains the proven optical design of its predecessor and provides LiveView AF functionality for high-speed contrast-based autofocus with supported cameras like the E-420, E-520 and the new E-30. A new circular aperture mechanism means smoother and more pleasing imagery in blurred regions of wide-aperture shots.
Three aspherical glass elements and a precise optical design result in images that are superbly sharp with high contrast and minimal linear distortion. A floating lens mechanism and internal focus design means that lens sharpness is well maintained for close-up as well as distant subjects. A close focus distance of only 22cm across the entire zoom range makes for versatile macro photography use.
The new 14-54mm f2.8-3.5 II is the ideal zoom lens for general photography applications requiring a high performance lens, including landscape and portraiture uses.
