Sony Australia says:
Smile Shutter
HDRCX12 is the 1st camcorder in the world to introduce Smile Shutter technology! Simply point the Handycam at a smiling face and it will automatically capture a high resolution still image. When recording video, CX12 automatically captures JPEGs of your loved ones every time they smile!
10.2 Mega Pixel Still Image Capture – with flash & red eye reduction
HDRCX12 allows you to capture spectacular 10.2 Mega Pixel still images when in dedicated still mode – with flash! You can also record a 7.2 Mega Pixel still image at the same time as recording full motion video! The HDRCX12 even supports red eye reduction, meaning your full High Definition Handycam can also double as a high end still camera.
Face Detection
Face Detection technology ensures that family and friends captured with HDRCX12 are always shown at their best! When the camera detects a human face it automatically adjusts focus, colour control and brightness to ensure that faces are always clear and sharp. Face Detection also works in group shots, with up to 8 faces being tracked at once.
Manual Shooting Function – Camera Control Dial
Easily assign a variety of camera settings to the Manual button and adjust them with the Camera Control Dial for smooth manual operation.
Zoom Microphone
The built in Zoom Microphone automatically "zooms" the lens and microphone at the same time. Zooming in on one person in a large crowd will increase the cameras sensitivity to their voice, while other sounds will not be as prominent. The Zoom Microphone closely resembles the natural human experience, where moving closer to a particular object increases the sensitivity to the sound coming from that location.
Film Roll Index and Face Index
By enabling Film Roll Index it's possible to preview the beginning of scenes and create scene indexes set at specified display intervals (3, 6, or 12 seconds and 1 or 5 minutes) – perfect for seeing what was recorded in a long take. This Handycam also features Face Index, allowing you to begin playing scenes simply by pressing the human faces detected during shooting.
