Memory - The Nikon D40 Digital SLR Camera comes with no memory, so you'll need to order a memory card with your camera. This camera uses Secure Digital Cards.
We recommend a 1gb memory card or higher. If you plan to use RAW file format, the files are a lot larger, and we recommend you purchase the largest memory card within your budget.

Card Readers - These provide an easy way to transfer your images to your computer. You simply take your memory card out of your camera and put it in your card reader and transfer. It also means that you don't run your batteries down while transferring images from the camera, and you don't have to leave your camera sitting on your desk at risk of being knocked.
